I don't know when mine was or the score. All I remember was being at the back of Bramall Lane Upper against Arsenal in their hideous yellow kit and Mel Rees was in goal. Was it 0-0, 1-1 or 0-1?!

I can't quite remember. About twenty years ago+, at Carrow Road, I have a strong memory that Brian Deane scored was it May 1991?
Darren can you help?
Sure was. In the '60s & 70s it was common for the Kop to be heaving with away fans. The Man. City supporters 'took' the back of the Kop and all us chavvies were evacuated to the front. The City fans had the bright idea of lobbing (glass) bottles, trying to hit the upright columns holding the roof up. Those who 'succeeded' had shards of broken glass raining down on us young 'uns.
Ah, the good old days!
1959, home game, won 2-1, I think, Pace scored with a header. Can't remember who and not sure if it was 58-9 season or 59-60. I think it was 59-60 as we had moved to Coal Aston by then.
I know the teams we played at home and won 2-1 but none of them bring back memories so I reckon it could have been a cup game.
It actually could have been the FA Cup game against Norwich which we drew 1-1 and I used to have the programme for that match amongst others from then, until my mum's second husband (pig bastard - sorry, he really was a tw@t) chucked them all out.
Just can't find scorers in those league or cup matches any where.
The only 2-1 home wins where Pace scored in that period were:
27/12/58 Grimsby (Pace, G. Shaw pen)
13/2/60 Scunthorpe (Pace, Lewis)
I had to look those up, as my memory only goes back to 60-61![]()
yep, I remember that we murdered em 0-0 that day.It was Boxing Day 1993. We actually played really well and were very unlucky not to win.
October 1969, Blades 1-0 Carlisle. Woody free kick
1967 reserve game, United v Villa won 5-0
First proper game 1968, night game v Chelsea lost 2-1,
closely followed by Fulham lost 3-2 after being 2-0 up
ended up relegated.
Been going ever since worst luck.
Dont know
31 8 74..united 3 ipswich 1.....Mills og, Field 2.When and where was the 1st Blades game you went to?
Mine was Blades 1 Wolves 0 ,on 7th April 1975 at BDTBL.
A couple of weeks later we beat Stoke 2-0 at the Lane with Peter Shilton in goal for them, and if I remember he played in all white kit.
That night was sooo cold, the fri night v chelsea. I was sat in lane end upper tier, frozen silly, as my mum sold pies to cockneys and blades down in the stand. You might be thinking of the New Years' Day game in 1974 when we lost 1-2 (Woodward). That was on a Tuesday, but would have been an early kick off (3 day week so no floodlights).
The only home night game against Chelsea in the 70's was Friday 3rd December 1976 when we won 1-0 (Hamilton pen)
Early 1989, probably round 3, yes, after wins v Mansfield, thanks to a Tony Kenworthy own goal, and a 3 1 v Donny at belle vue.Probably '89 or '90. We were (again) in the Third Division and Norwich were in the top division so nobody gave us much chance. Deane & Agana scored in a tight 3-2 defeat. Away following was fantastic. I remember reading in the programme a few weeks later that some Blades had 'commandeered' a furniture van and travelled down in that!

Cheers UnitedBlade, always remembered it as Fulham being the last game,That was a vintage year for misery ! We in fact led in all three of our last home games and lost all three ! Just a single point from those games would have seen us stay up.
You might have got the games and dates mixed up because as far as I'm aware the sequence was:
23 Apr 1968 Sheffield United v Fulham L 2-3 League Division One
27 Apr 1968 Sheffield United v West Ham United L 1-2 League Division One
11 May 1968 Sheffield United v Chelsea L 1-2 League Division One
Took my then girlfriend to that match , have'nt taken a lass to any game since , and nor will I again , look at how the last 30 years have panned out , bloody bad luck I tell ya .Not sure, the first one i remember was against Walsall 1980 i think it was?
The Don Givens missed penalty.
But i may have gone to a few before that weren't so memorable. Seems odd that i would be taken to my first match on the last day of the season.
Bone was homesick and got his wish in returning to ScotlandBone went to Celtic in early 74 just after Furphy became manager. I assume Furphy didn't think he was very good. He was effectively replaced by Tony Field, who Furphy signed from Blackburn (his old club) in March 74.
