When and where was the 1st Blades game you went to?
Mine was Blades 1 Wolves 0 ,on 7th April 1975 at BDTBL.
A couple of weeks later we beat Stoke 2-0 at the Lane with Peter Shilton in goal for them, and if I remember he played in all white kit.

Bank Holiday Monday, April 23rd, 1962 at Old Trafford. Think it was 2-2 and that 'Doc' Pace scored - (stand to be corrected.)

In those days, the reverse fixture was played the following day, so United would have played Man. U at BDTBL on Easter Tuesday.

Didn't go to that one. My parents probably thought I'd enough excitement for one Easter!

remember vaguely , only being 5/6 going in my dads car to Stoke City in 1959 , can remember standing at the railings with my rattle , in my scarf , dont remember owt about the match except a man carrying a board with some numbers on it at half time , believe it was golden goal
first real vivid memories of a full game are of beating westy brom 5-3 with 2 late goals around 63

The winner against Wolves in 1975 if I remember rightly was scored by big Eddie Colquhoun,it was a free kick inside the box I think, and all their team were on the goal line and he smashed it in through them all! :)

I think mine was 9th October 1948 against Manchester City.

We lost 0 - 2.

So began a lifetime of grief and disappointment ... punctuated by an occasional high.

Not sure of the year, but it was around 1993 at lane v Liverpool. Drew 0-0, a bastarding 0-0 in first game ever. I was about 11 years old, was a good day, I was absolutely bladdered.

We actually won 1-0 at OT. Pace scored. We lost at home 2-3 the following day with Pace and Hodgson scoring.

It was Boxing Day 1993. We actually played really well and were very unlucky not to win.

1967 Blades 1 Man City 0. Mick Jones scoring. My eldest brother took me and we s tood on the ledge at right hand corner of the kop. There was a lot of crowd trouble that day and my mother did,nt allow me to go again for a few years after.

Cheers for that, thought my memory was maybe out but a couple of years. I certainly dont remember it being boxing day. Despite my "bastarding 0-0" comment above, I do remember walking out thinking we should have won. The game was obviously exciting enough for me to keep asking my uncle to take me. Years of pain then followed.

Actually we also had a 0-0 draw with Liverpool in the League Cup on 28th Oct 1992 (a Wednesday night), so it could have been that game.

The West Brom game, if we're talking about the same one, was my first league game. It was 4-3.

That was 1/10/66. Woodward 2, Reece and Jones scored. That was before I was born!

My first was 7/4/73 at home to Palace. We won 2-0 (Dearden, Bone)

Dearden and Bone were, all too briefly, a terrific strike pairing. Jim Bone arrived from Norwich in exchange for the late Trevor Hockey. He did really well at first, but we soon moved him on. I can't remember why or where!

A game against Chelsea in about 74. Think it ended 0-0 or 1-1. It was a midweek game.

Bone went to Celtic in early 74 just after Furphy became manager. I assume Furphy didn't think he was very good. He was effectively replaced by Tony Field, who Furphy signed from Blackburn (his old club) in March 74.

You might be thinking of the New Years' Day game in 1974 when we lost 1-2 (Woodward). That was on a Tuesday, but would have been an early kick off (3 day week so no floodlights).

The only home night game against Chelsea in the 70's was Friday 3rd December 1976 when we won 1-0 (Hamilton pen)

It may have been the 76 one. Thank you. I knew nothing about attending games and went with some mates. we were in the Bramall lane upper i think looking at the Kop wishing i was in there.

Was that the Chelsea game when they went up that season , lot a trouble in pond street if it was that game .

Middlesboro, April 1961, promotion already secured, a 'celebration' game maybe? Only around 18,000 turned up, and it seemed rather muted to me (with lots of blokes in overcoats and flat caps....)

Jimmy Bone flattered to deceive initially, eventually looking quite ordinary. Tony Field (who, according to insiders, was universally unpopular in the dressing room) performed likewise....

John st stand was wooden , taxi up from lady's bridge , taxi driver saying hope currie scores due to dads tip , out with 10 mins to go to get bus into town from corner of kop , otherwise being dragged into town , being told to hurry up Darren we'll miss bus , 71 up to Norfolk park , gettin liver and onions { yuck} every satdi , dad going too bed to sleep off rake of pints before going up to park & arbour working mans club , with me ma , First game can't remember , earliest memory is a man city game , still a Blade , sons a Blade , would'nt mind but da was a pig fan . I can't quite remember. About twenty years ago+, at Carrow Road, I have a strong memory that Brian Deane scored was it May 1991?

Darren can you help?

Sure was. In the '60s & 70s it was common for the Kop to be heaving with away fans. The Man. City supporters 'took' the back of the Kop and all us chavvies were evacuated to the front. The City fans had the bright idea of lobbing (glass) bottles, trying to hit the upright columns holding the roof up. Those who 'succeeded' had shards of broken glass raining down on us young 'uns.

Ah, the good old days!

Probably '89 or '90. We were (again) in the Third Division and Norwich were in the top division so nobody gave us much chance. Deane & Agana scored in a tight 3-2 defeat. Away following was fantastic. I remember reading in the programme a few weeks later that some Blades had 'commandeered' a furniture van and travelled down in that!
