The fantastically fickle minds of football fans

I haven't slagged Norwood or any other individual players

But what I find unacceptable, (that others seem to accept) is players that are dogshit for 50% - 75% of their contract time with us, and for the rest of the time them being ok and merely functional means they are some sort of legend

It's a fair comment to say that this is a forum on the internet but it has been noticeable over the last few years that opinions about any subject have become more hyperbolic across the board.

Most players have good or bad games and spells. We don't know if they're carrying injuries or have personal issues etc.

Certain players get tagged as lazy when they just play in a certain way. Our fans particularly seem to love those players who obviously give everything and are much more likely to give them passes when they make mistakes.

Obviously the discrimination against small socks is perfectly justified.

You can mirror this with going to the game, some fans have certain players that they will always slate and others who they will always praise, no matter how good or bad they play.

I have always liked Norwood but have been critical of him at times last season and this, particularly when he was seemingly being nesh.

As one other poster quite rightly said, if there is no movement or players showing for the ball / moving into space, it makes him look like he’s dog shit.
In recent weeks where the movement has been so much better, he (and hourihabe) has been the fulcrum which enables us to switch sides so effortlessly.
Never more obvious than against Udders where we were much less fluid.
I also think that Fleck has been pretty poor for about 18 months. Maybe he will pick up?

As with probably every club, there will be a percentage of people who readily scream and write abuse about our players being the worst thing to do ever darken our doors, then laud them as the new messiah without any sense of irony.
What does really grip my shit though is people who have a fit when a player is rightly criticised for a poor performance and call the poster a ‘pig’ or other such abuse for daring to air an opinion.

Fans are rightly entitled to identify when a player has a poor game but I suppose it is about balance and being constructive.

Maybe that’s just a maturity thing. Pretty sure I gave Andy Scott dogs abuse from the safety of the back of the Kop in the mid 90’s.

I don't think the players were happy under Slav. Bash couldn't even get a game after being our best and most consistent player for the previous 4/5 seasons. Getting Hecky back and playing again to our strengths has rejuvenated all the players and it's showing in our performances.

I think the players have really stepped up their games, and a lot of the negativity was warranted.
Norwood is certainly one of those. He's got notably more aggressive and assertive.

Team Innit.
