Does anyone remember these guys outside the lane?
During 80s and 90s there always seemed to be a couple of them with their Banners.
Always intrigued who they thought they could convert and how, mind you would have been very successful around 4.55pm saturdays during Adkins season

I was talking about him a few weeks ago. The bloke used to hang around the bottom of The Moor well but on matchdays he used to stand on the corner opposite Cricketers?

Wonder if he was saved (Blade) or condemned (🐷) ?

Long, long time ago walking towards a guy with "prepare to meet thy God" placard who was met by a couple of girls shouting "Tony Currie's coming!" Said it was a long time ago.

I worked round there in the early 2000s and he was always stood at the bottom near Boots and the entrance to Chapel Walk. Every day without fail, rain or shine. He must have been in his 60s or 70s then, so I guess he’ll probably know by now whether his dedication was worth it or not.

Don't they now just stroll around the city centre? Surely after a few years they start losing faith in how nigh the end is and start considering Jesus is a bit of a flake.

Ok, as a resident Bible basher i'll bite.

Whether you agree with this bloke or not, I respect him for standing up for what he believes in. Not easy to be a figure of fun and keep doing it,
esp at a football crowd.

Jesus was one of the most important people who ever lived. The significance of what he did and said and whether he was God or whatever is for you to decide.

Have a good day all.

Those blokes were the Cocker Brothers, used to be all round town, and always turned up at the games, don’t think they ever went into the match.

Are they,
A) Gathering to stare at Big Ron's vacant parking space.
B) Queueing to get into Hillsborough Lido
B) Assembling for migration to QPR

Answers on a placard... or postcard.
Or just don't bother.

Not at all religious me. But I do think this Jesus bloke existed. A Robin Hood type, pretty smart and a very strong personality. Probably well travelled and always
wanting to gain Knowledge and skills whenever, wherever.
Reputation building and going before him, rock star status. A political activist, not liking a foreign power ruling his land.
Have a good day yourself.

I seem to remember a bloke who used to hang about on the corner by the Cricks with a sign saying “repent and turn to god” or something of the sort before home games.

Some years ago mind.

Didn't he run a sandwich take-away business on a beach somewhere?

Good thoughts mate. I hear what you are saying.

I don't consider myself religious either. Religion is a set of rules, Jesus is a person.

Religion is what starts wars and divides people. Jesus asks us to love our enemies, pretty hard to do, but what a world it would be if we did.

Religion is also what ruins football, when people want to cause violence to others from other teams, just because they are different to them.

And a motorbike, a Triumph. Rode it through somewhere or other.

Ah Bible jokes, gotta love em.......

The smallest man in the Bible was Nehemiah (knee-high-miah)..........I'll get me coat.

I seem to remember some graffiti on a church notice board that said “Jesus saves” and underneath someone had written “but Edwards gets the rebound”.
Speaking of graffiti, who remembers “chicks with dicks” scrawled on the underpass near the Church - was there for years.

The guy with the Seek ye the Lord on his coat used to live in Wadsley he had it plastered on his car as well I know his family a bit

That's cool, I think the bloke with the sign would have better spent his time chatting to people, like you have, then holding a sign that had a bit of a strange message.
Lots of worse people about though, GLTTL

Apparently, Jesus had an elastic arse. The bible says, "Jesus tied his ass to a tree and walked into Bethlehem. Thats me focked for a place upstairs! :)
For you old motor enthusiasts also.
Moses came down the hill in his Triumph.
It could be heard all over Israel. . Never got any better.

I read that as a Scottish bloke saying "nee, am here" as in 'no, I'm down here', and I think it's a better joke, I'll let you use it.
