The Deadline Day Scapegoat

It wasn't a bad window, but even allowing for the deadline day saga, I did think that we might have done a bit more than we have in the window, (by that I mean proven quality) especially after knowing there would be unexpected sell-on clause boosts coming our way.

It's crossed my mind that McCabe is running a really tight ship because he is looking to make the books and club as attractive a proposition as possible with a view to selling the club in the next year or so, and Wilder and the Prince have bought into the plan.

Just a thought, maybe I'm wrong and us keeping Brooks a bit longer reflected the extra income benefit, but either way there'll come a time in a year or two tops where we will have to compete better financially to compete on the pitch. We aren't Burton or Barnsley, we are right up there amongst the best supported teams in the league and as such we should expect our manager to be backed accordingly once we're established. Fans will expect that and I think McCabe knows that hence my thoughts.

That scene was actually cut for some reason, from the deadline day video.

"They've rejected our bid for Egan"
"Oh, really? OK well that's that then, let's look elsewhere"

Can't think why ;)

(unless of course, we didn't make a bid and it's just another lie on top of Sinclair at Sheffield train station, the moon landings, jfk, black knight satellite etc...)
