Did your son not listen to Phipps saying the Murphy money was available? Or that we tried to sign Burn on the last deadline day and finance was not an issue? Or when he said signing Sharp, Sammon, Woolford etc. wouldn’t prevent us from bringing defensive reinforcements as the money was available (even before Murphy’s sale)? Or Adkins talking about keeping in touch til January to perform the squad tweaks to make us have a stronger second half of the season? How does your son feel about the way some of these statements appear contradict the more recent statements?

Not really but he is aware that we have slipped from pre-season favourites for promotion to 6/7th favourites, not just in the bookies' eyes but also our own eyes. That seriously alters the financial forecasts on the income side for next season.

Nobody goes through such a poor first half of the season undamaged and the position we are in has to affect confidence levels in every area of the club. Quite possibly the Board may be less willing to back our manager than they were 6 months ago. Certainly they would have expected more demand for some of our players who stick with us like bad pennies. Five incoming signings and one out is barely sustainable on top of a bloated squad. Be fair.

Given our fantastic reputation as a selling club, I'm expecting them to sell at least 12 deadwood players.

As far as signing players is concerned, I think that Saturday's Lotto rollover offers better odds.

That stat is misleading. 5 in of which 3 are loans and one a free agent. We paid circa £500k for the other. One out sold for £1.5 million. We had also released some in the summer like Doyle, Davies, Turner etc. We have also sent McNulty out for the season (so that matches one of the season loans in). Alcock is out on loan about to be permanent, Higdon has been on loan, as has Tel, DCL, Banton, McDonagh, Brooks, Hamilton, Khan etc.

I've mentioned this a few times, particularly when the Murphy money has been debated and I reckon we've pretty much balanced the books this season with the ins and outs, wages etc which is why I don't disbelieve the statement that we have the cash available. The fact is there's probably 8 to 10 senior players who are unilkely to feature (or don't figure in Adkins' plans) but probably costing us close to £100K a week. This is partly Clough's fault, partly Adkins fault but the fact remains that it's the latters problem now and not an easy one to resolve within a month.

Agreed. We need to get some out and we seem to be with talk of Alcock, Higdon, Kennedy and possibly others following McNulty out of the door.

I think my house may have been broken in to...

The OB have found the following clues

Gillingham, fourth division 2/3 seasons ago; looking good for promotion. Coventry on their arse last year, playing miles away from their home town in front of one man and his dog; looking good for promotion. Your right PS, what do these clubs possess that we don't behind he scenes ?

Coventry just strengthened their defence too by signing Peter Ramage. Good signing for this league .

Then when Brayford is sold in the summer we’ll be told “can’t stand in his way…..” conveniently forgetting that “all 3 parties to the deal have to be in agreement…”.

We really should report this issue to the authorities. It seems terribly unfair that other clubs can sign our best players without our agreement yet we are constantly told “no” by other clubs when we want their players. At least we can call the transfer fee “investment and reinvestment”.

PS. Bradley Dack has scored as many goals this season as Billy Sharp from midfield. That would be an excellent signing If we could pull it off. Should have done it in August like many of us were calling for when it would have been a more realistic signing.

Apparently Championship clubs circling around him, so unlikely we will get a sniff..

Why do we now have problems with our budget when just less than a year ago the board sanctioned the signing of a right back for £1.5+ on championship wages? I thought I was on the only twat who doesn't keep his accounts properly (for the benefit of HMRC, I'm fucking doing them, OK, they'll be in before the end of the month).

depends if you believe it .. our esteemed board have previous in this area

List of division 3 sides that already have announced incomings this transfer window (including loan extensions): Burton, Gills, Cov, Wigan, Posh, Sarfend, Bury, Scunny, Barnsley, Shrews, Blackpool, Fleetwood, Colchester.

We're among the other half of the division who've done nowt as yet.

The honour of being crowned the division's least proactive side awaits...
(We might find ourselves actually winning something for once ;))

We're waiting on Ched's appeal.

No he said it because we already have too many players and don't have the budget to add more until we unload some, which will probably happen towards the end of the JTW as people want their loans etc to last until the end of the season.
FFS , We have a £1m bonus from the big day out , can't we actually just for once be proactive in the transfer market and get one quality player brought in rather than scrapping around at the end of the window. How many more seasons are we gonna stay down here ?

Did they wait till the end of window scramble ? No , because they are serious about getting promoted. Do we appear to be similarly ambitious ? Apparently not !

We look to be aiming to sign two players. Well according to Adkins latest interview. They are players that will command a transfer fee as well.

Let's hope we can make it happen.

It always amazes me that not purchasing on 1st Jan = lack of ambition.

Even, I'm not in charge of the transfer policy personally...

I think I have I just heard Giddings on RS say that Adkins is having trouble getting two "over the line". same owd same owd to quote a famous Frenchman.
