We won't sign anyone the excuses have already started falling out of the managers mouth.

I knew we wouldn't when we heard the dreaded phrase

"People are WORKING HARD behind the scenes"

Incidentally no one has ever clarified who these 'people' are and what constitutes as 'working hard' yet!

Pretty much on these lines...

I'd imagine that "working hard" in this context is nothing more than a euphemism for playing with ones todger.

My thoughts exactly. These stock phrases seem to be part of each manager's training when they arrive.

I have grown tired of it all. All hot air and no delivery. My enthusiasm is at an all time low this season.

I consider myself to be a bit lazy but it seems I'm actually quite hard working.

Extending Hammonds loan until the end of season will be about the only major bit of incoming business we do, apart from perhaps another 'prospect' from the Northern Premier.

I don't get excited about signings anymore. A club of our size at this level should hoover up all of the best talent at this level and waltz to promotion. Every other club of a comparative size that has been in this league has and normally within the first season (two at the most).

The club is clearly incapable of doing something that many other clubs have done easily.....signing the right players to blast their way out.

My son doesn't expect any signings until we have reduced the size of the squad and therefore it might not even happen this month if that is not achieved first. Why does my son think that? Because he listens to what the manager has said. Mind you my son is 40 years old.

How old is your son? If he's too young to know better then he's taking his lead from you. That's how it is.

But you're ever keen to tell us how miserable you are. :)

I'm a Blade. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do?

To be honest this forum feels like the only connection I have with the club now I live far away and since I consider myself a lifelong Blade it almost feels compulsory to moan about them somewhere.....I say moan not because moaning itself is compulsory but because it's the only choice you're given supporting that shower.

Gillingham, fourth division 2/3 seasons ago; looking good for promotion. Coventry on their arse last year, playing miles away from their home town in front of one man and his dog; looking good for promotion. Your right PS, what do these clubs possess that we don't behind he scenes ?

Unless everyone missed his last two interviews, Adkins has already said any business we do will be at the end of the window and is dependant on who we shift out.

We're not Hot Chocolate. There will be no miricles to believe in.

Any why has he said that? So the board can put in a derisory offer for a decent player on the last day, so that when it is rejected there is no time to make an improved offer.

The club can say they tried, some fans are appeased because we were 'clearly trying' and the club goes in its merry way failing to progress both on and off the field.

You must have spotted the pattern by now?

I can't see anything happening TBH we have far too many sub standard players under contract. Nobody will want to take them off us in Jan which means we have to wait for their contracts to run out which means we are stuck with what we have.

The only players I can see anyone willing to buy are; Brayford, Sharpe or Adams and I wouldn't be surprised to see one or all three leave with the unusual promise of investment in the first team.

This will then be followed with links to half decent players but nothing that comes to fruition.

Then on to the summer where we will be told we need to 'cut our cloth' followed by an influx of players of an even lower standard.

The club has got more than a few rotten apples in it that need to go ASAP. Nigel has the 11 he can trust now and that's that. He will continue to play theses regardless of how good we are as he has no other choice.

No he said it because we already have too many players and don't have the budget to add more until we unload some, which will probably happen towards the end of the JTW as people want their loans etc to last until the end of the season.

Did your son not listen to Phipps saying the Murphy money was available? Or that we tried to sign Burn on the last deadline day and finance was not an issue? Or when he said signing Sharp, Sammon, Woolford etc. wouldn’t prevent us from bringing defensive reinforcements as the money was available (even before Murphy’s sale)? Or Adkins talking about keeping in touch til January to perform the squad tweaks to make us have a stronger second half of the season? How does your son feel about the way some of these statements appear contradict the more recent statements?

Then when Brayford is sold in the summer we’ll be told “can’t stand in his way…..” conveniently forgetting that “all 3 parties to the deal have to be in agreement…”.

We really should report this issue to the authorities. It seems terribly unfair that other clubs can sign our best players without our agreement yet we are constantly told “no” by other clubs when we want their players. At least we can call the transfer fee “investment and reinvestment”.

PS. Bradley Dack has scored as many goals this season as Billy Sharp from midfield. That would be an excellent signing If we could pull it off. Should have done it in August like many of us were calling for when it would have been a more realistic signing.

Unless I heard wrong I don't think it was cast in stone Pete that any deals would be done at the end of the window, more than likely as we all know.
