17th April 1971 during a lull in play in the 1st half. The red indicator on A shows that the grunters are losing 1-0 but on that day all eyes were on the Cardiff v Watford score (cant remember which letter it was on). Late in the game as the Blades were winning 2 or 3 nil, a loud roar erupted at the ground when the scoreboard indicated that Watford were leading 1-0 meaning we overtake Cardiff in 2nd place

Yes, it was. We attacked the Kop End in the 1st half and Reece's 1st goal after a mazy dribble was quite near half time so the photo was likely to be when it was 0-0

He became my icon after this ,alongside my dad, grandad and Stuart adamson. Maybe sad to some but i always carry a plectrum of Adamsons ,a sixpence from my Grandad and a 4 leaf clove from my dad. My daughters middle name is Reece.

Did you prefer Adamson in the Skids or Big Country, great to hear the Halfords ad with into the valley, older members may remember late 70's early 80's my name all over Sheffield. and it was'nt Gadz followed by his number.Got a good story bout Big Country when they played in Dublin years ago , maybe for another time . Beeffy and punk Beeffy and skids { no not in my jocks }

Some fantastic photos with the cricket pavilion in the background. For anyone who's interested there are some great photos of the Lane as a cricket ground in a recent-ish book called Cricket's lost Grounds. Out of interest could any Blade who remembers cricket at the Lane be able to tell me which was the Grinder's Stand? I'd always got it in my mind it was the one to right of the pavilion (as you look at it), although in Cricket's lost Grounds the author reckons it was the Kop?

On the subject of Big Country, what an excellent band, saw them a few times, and just like Sitwell, one of my mates copped for Stuart Adamson's plectrum at a gig at the City Hall in Sheffield in '91.

I got mine at Mansfield civic centre at an early big country gig when he threw it after the last song ,actually caught it :) I preferred him in the Skids and had a drink with him after a concert at Dingwalls (hofbrahau/Berlins),very early Big country concert on the night Ken smacked Dierdre in Corra.
Rooks is the bible on him though :)

Handsworth, I've seen both quoted as 'Grinders Stand' but my understanding has always been the Bramall Lane Terrace (as you quote, to the right as you face pavilion).
I remember sometime in mid sixties taking myself off to Bramall Lane as a 10 or 11 year old to watch Yorkshire and the touring Indians. As I walked on John St with my satchell full of sarnies and pop, an elderly, smartly dressed gent stopped me and asked if I was going to the cricket. I replied in the affirmative and he offered to take me in the pavilion as he was a member and had a spare seat. I sat next to the steps with a brilliant view and within touching distance of all the legendary Yorkshire greats of the day. Bishen Bedi patted my head too :-)

How times have changed eh.....

How indeed,LSF..

The old man had pavilion tickets for Freddie Trueman's benefit match against Surrey, and shortly after lunch (well timed, because all the members were pissed), several Yorkshire second team players came round carrying plastic buckets for FST's collection. Full of silver, ten bob notes, it looked an absolute fortune to me.

Freddie had a real battle with Ken Barrington, and then finished his spell and went to his short-leg position - the PA announced the amount collected (several hundreds, I think), and Freddie doffed his cap to all quarters of the ground.

Like dining with the gods.
