The Tuna fish that descended from Lake Michigan
Another auction which will only be available to the haves with a few thousand pounds of spare change burning a hole in their pocket. Why not hold a raffle for some of them where the ordinary man (or woman) in the street could be in with the chance of winning one? I'd love to get one for my back garden but I couldn't afford to bid the price of a decent second hand car for a polycarbonate ornament.
It's the same with Children In Need. And before anyone says anything, no, I'm not begrudging the charities the money but, in the case of Children In Need, they're as good as saying 'yes, we'll have all of your loose change and the cash you've begged through doing your stunts but you can't get any of the good stuff unless you're one of the wealthy few who can pay through the nose for it'. The man (or woman) in the street's fiver which he gladly donates is as much out of his pocket as Tarquin Farquin's seven grand which buys him something special as part of his donation.
If the "haves with a few thousand pounds of spare change" are going to spend the most money, and thus raise the most money for a very worthy charity, then great.
I think the need for the care and treatment for sick children is more important than your desire to have one in your back garden.
