The case for Kennedy.

If you're good enough, you're tall enough. Always that Kennedy had a very good leap on him, which has aided the fact that he is not massive.

I posted this on my facebook page:

"Say something about this photo ... okay, on the left, is Charlie Austin, booting goals in for fun for Premiership Queens Park Rangers and looking likely for an international call-up for England. On the right is his team-mate, Bobby Zamora. Both are on massive salaries. Like, eye-watering. In the middle is 21 year old Terry Kennedy, the bloke who stopped both of them scoring today. He's on significantly less money, but looks a bit more upbeat in his outlook on life. It just goes to show, money can't buy you happiness. UP THE BLADES!"

I used to be of the opinion he might not be big enough for centre back but when you see him attack the ball and get there first, he's a good defender. He has the heart of a lion and Clough said after one game it was his distribution that let's him down.

I would definitely keep him as a squad player and see if he develops.

His attitude is superb.

Here's a stat for you: I could be wrong but I don't think he's ever been on the losing side at first team level.

Didn't he come on at Swansea away when we got battered 4-0? That's the only loss I can think of though.

I forgot he played that game but we were already 3 down with 10 men when he came on !

Whenever he plays our defence is solid. The lad has that pedigree in our achieving Youth Team so if we are serious about youth development let's give him his chance. Why not?

Attributes: spirited, strong in the tackle, attacks the ball, holds his position and shows leadership/ organisational qualities for his age.
Not read all the rest but yes he should have a go and then people can shut up about Basham playing there and he can be groomed as next years captain from midfield.

Kennedy might just be a late bloomer. Let's not forget that Matt Lowton, when he started the season away at Birmingham, was 21. Think he'd only made his debut earlier the same year. Kennedy just turned 21 a couple of months ago. With Basham now established at centre-half I doubt he'll get too many opportunities - but if Kennedy does the same in the next two games it leaves NC with a welcome dilemma.

Whether he plays much in the next few weeks or not the lad's performances have done him no harm in the fan's esteem. I hope that he achieved the same in Nigel's eyes too. His emergence as a strong defender may allow Nigel to spend money on targets elsewhere in the team such as a fit midfield general and a partner up front for McNutts

Personally I think we've loads of players and cover in the squad in defence and midfield. It has to be 2 strikers for me before even thinking about anywhere else. We're in league 1 not Champions League.

Any squad serious about promotion needs 4 strikers to cover suspensions and injury from early January to the end of season. We needed 4 from the start of the season but there lies the crux of our problems and our unsatisfactory league position.

McNulty is one and good value. Higdon might or might not be another. Porter never was but Murphy can fill in if he has to and poor Baxter if asolutely necessary, but it's all a bit makeshift really ! It seems evident we need 2 as a priority over any other position and we are still awaiting the talisman.
