Whenever he plays our defence is solid. The lad has that pedigree in our achieving Youth Team so if we are serious about youth development let's give him his chance. Why not?

Attributes: spirited, strong in the tackle, attacks the ball, holds his position and shows leadership/ organisational qualities for his age.

I have always thought he was a decent defender and I still think he will get better over time.

His main problem is injuries I reckon.

I do like him but he's too small to play regularly unless there's a big lad next to him. His distribution is also short of what's required.

Still, today was a nice reminder that losing Collins is actually a step forward for United.

Thought he had a hard on then realised it was Charlie Austin in his pocket and it subsided as he took him out and gave him back to 'Arry

Always felt he was the better of the Kennedy/Maguire partnership when they were in the youth team but injuries massively disrupted his development. Needs first team games but he's the potential to be very good in my opinion. Already showing that he doesn't need to be 6"4 to do a good job - kept Austin/Zamora quiet enough.

Given how much the defence has been chopped and changed this season, it's surprising he hasn't played until now - has he had any injuries this season?

No Cough was a **** for playing him and should have played Collins

I think most, including myself were pointing out that Collins really must have gone down the pecking order to play Kennedy, who is just back from injury himself. It's great for him and good on him, however just strange that Collins can't even get near the bench when they are down to bones back there

Kennedy is not too small to play regularly . Height is not always a issue , if you are good enough . Joe Shaw comes to mind.

Agree to a point, but the rest of the team lacks height and we're paying for it regularly. That makes Kennedy's case even more difficult to make.

I always liked Whitehouse, probably the best character and captain in that Youth Team, but he's gone, bit of a shame I reckon.

Yes, he got fit only a few weeks ago. What a bonus if he should be given a chance now and succeed.

Hope the lad does stay fit , he had a cracking game today . Could solve a problem ,and one less issue for Mr Clough to deal with . This would help to .provide additional funds to get a top class ,strong , athletic midfielder , to fill the role Wallace was bought for . This would even assist Doyle .

We do need additional players to give some height in the side , but Kennedy is a gem , on todays performance. Lets hope he stays fit and does succeed.

Kennedy was brilliant today, not necessarily a leader, but he doesn't need to be if he's playing alongside McEverley. The pair of them were brilliant today

While you can't argue that Terry Kennedy is not the tallest defender in the world, it is not that often that he loses in the air, a bit like Chris Morgan. He is fearless.

We are hardly down to the bare bones, Kennedy, McGahey and Alcock have all been on the bench the past few weeks so ahead of Collins. We are probably going to offload him in the JTW and I doubt he wants to be cup tied when Liverpool come in with a big offer.

It was just another excuse to be negative and have a go.

Cant quite fathom out why but I recon he could grow into a bit of a cult figure at the lane.

Something about a midget ginger centre half caked in tattoos heading bricks and tackling trains with a big grin on his face that is just very Sheffield United.

I could be wrong on this, but wasn't he homeless at 15 years of age, living on the streets, and football turned his life around? All the stories I have heard is that the lad is hard as nails, scared of no one, scared of no confrontation, no matter the odds against him. Probably why Morgan likes the lad so much.

In a nutshell Presty you mean he's gormless but effective?

I think you're thinking of Nikita

mate, I have to say, some of your one liners on here are priceless, actually l;aughed out loud (or "lol'd", as the youngesters would say), when I read the above!

I liked Whitehouse as well, but I think Reed and Dimaio are much better prospects. Good to see Dimaio on the bench again today.

Whitehouse was the most likely to be the next first teamer for a while for me, think injuries mainly put paid to that.

Reedy is class and Dimaio will make it, replacement for Doyle?

A few years ago John Pemberton said Kennedy's tackling was the best at the club, and that he would be a regular if he'd been a bit taller. Regarding his height he has a great leap and is very brave.

Clough put him on in defensive midfield a couple of times last season and he was brilliant from a defensive point of view. If we do get in front and first and foremost want to avoid conceding, Kennedy can be a good option in that role from the bench.

Injuries and those unfortunate changes of managers which disrupt the stores of knowledge and judgements. Many careers are affected by such things in all walks of life.

Obviously Derry and/or Notts County had more continuity of knowledge about Whitehouse.

Just as an aside, I have been ridiculed on here for suggesting Whitehouse and Kennedy were better than some of our new signings this past 18 months.
