For a long time we've had Morgs, before that we had Reg Holdsworth and going back to my early years Stan and Brian Gayle spring to mind.
Generally centre halves of this mould make excellent captains, I think mainly because they are willing to put themselves where others won't. And to be fair they are the strong, loud characters.
Monty for me, despite his wilingness to put his body on the line, just doesn't seem to inspire as a captain.
Away at Barnsley last week the team was crying out for Morgs, Monty was lost in the game, for me Reid was the only man that at times stepped up and looked to rally the players and make things happen.
Bartley is growing and will make a decent captain in a couple of years if he keeps developing. Noz shouldn't be on the pitch let alone captain. Perhaps Hendo could come in and do a job, but he rarely plays enough and Simmo, i just don't like keepers as captains.
Personally I think Reid has to be signed up and made captain. But failing that, we need a new centre halve of the Morgs mould to pull the lads together
