6 years, we’ve been waiting, I can honestly say I’m glad it took this long, wouldn’t have been the same without a Blade as captain and as manager. 6 years of pain and disappointment, watching 11 supposedly Sheffield United players passing a ball around season after season, but they weren’t true Blades like this squad.
Then came Chris Wilder, who has done a fantastic job, in the past managers have handed out wages to players coming down the leagues, instead Sir Wilder has done us proud restricting wages, no matter who they were they weren’t exploiting the Blades. Did wonderful transfer business signing league one specialists in Duffy, Fleck and Clarke in the summer and only added to this in January with Samir and Jay O’Shea, who have both won crucial points for the Blades. McCabe finally got the right manager, someone who understands the Blades, shows passion for the Blades and understands what promotion means for the Blades.
I’ll miss League One, the adventures to some crazy grounds, ones with three sides, one with toilets in the ground and ones where the away support is bigger than the home support. Obviously we could have got promoted in the first season, but I’m glad we didn’t, because this team is so much greater than that one was back then, there is a togetherness, they are all great lads and will forever be a Blade.
There has been some Highlights, Semi Finals in the Fa Cup and League Cup, 3-0 at QPR, a favourite of mine. There have been some lows, losing 3-0 to Crewe under Nigel Clough looking at the possibility of League Two, but the Blades remained United and are finally seeking the reward they deserve, PROMOTION.
