Inter Cities Fairs Cup committee wanted Everton (finished 4th in league), Wendy (6th) and Birmingham (20th) to enter the 1962-63 Fairs Cup but the Football Legue insisted on Burnley (2nd), Everton and Blades (5th). After a few meetings, Everton then was the only English club in the 1962-63 Fairs Cup

Just after the start of the 1964-65 season. Doc Pace played in the first three games but had a stomach problem that needed an op and then Birchenall took his place. When Pace recovered from the op, he was moved to Notts County

We didnt have a manager until 1932 (Teddy Davison). Before that The Football Committee and the Captain decides on the line up and the Captain largely decides on the tactics. The Secretary arranges the transfers.

The Saturdays either side of my birth date we lost 1-3 at home to Bolton and 0-1 away at Chelsea.
At the end of the season we were relegated to Division 2

January 63, not a bad season for the Blades.
Same couldn't be said for the weather though, as there was much disruption to fixtures due to freezing conditions between Dec 62 and Mar 63. Some 3rd round FA cup matches not being played until mid March.
Not even the Desso and undersoil heating would have coped.

Technically speaking you are correct, but I have to say it's taking pedantry a little far in my opinion. Having said which I suppose that's the purpose of pedantry, so carry on.
If you search for a list of Sheffield United managers from our foundation you will find John Nicholson on it, not only that but see him acclaimed as our most successul manager ever.

We finished 7th in the second division at the end of the 1956/7 season but the match nearest to my birthday was an embarrassing 7-2 home defeat by Rotherham.
