I've no idea how much it would raise. Not a lot, I'm sure. But nobody seems to be bothered how much this deal is worth, so what does it matter?

Fwiw I'd keep it blank unless something worthwhile is found, or I'd donate the space to charities.

It might be a different story in the PL when the money makes more of a difference but not this.

I very much doubt a crowdfund would raise more money than what this sponsorship deal is worth.

What do you class as worthwhile? A brand which one supporter likes, might be hated by another, so how do you decide?

We had a timber merchant in the 90s and those shirts are generally looked back on with fond memories. But if we had a timber merchant now, someone would probably moan that it’s shit and tinpot. So I’m not sure how the club can keep everyone happy.

Best thing to do is just sell the advertising space to the highest bidder.

I think you're misunderstanding my point about crowdfunding. I'm not saying it'd fund more than a sponsor, I'm saying that no sponsorship is financially worthwhile at this level. So a sponsor needs to be 'worthy' of giving up our shirt, not just to the highest bidder.

Of course "worthwhile" is open to interpretation but yes I'm referring to a Laver type. Some kind of 'traditional' product or service. I highly doubt any fan hates Laver, because there's nothing to really hate them for. That's entirely the point.

An unregulated financial product which is more volatile and risk-laden than pure gambling but seems to be able to get away without having the protections the gambling industry has, yes I very much am against that and I don't want it funding my club even at the peanuts level it'll be at.

Finding the right sponsor and finding something everyone agrees with are two totally different things, and I don't think the latter matters very much. The former does, hence when it's a very highly paid industry itself.

In all seriousness I am genuinely fairly surprised this has happened. When we were at the height of the crypto boom, sure. But I think most people know exactly what these coins are about now. Hopefully we’ll get some decent £££ from it at least.

Martin Calladine is of course popping up on X over it. I suppose it’s one of the few times his views are at least somewhat relevant.

So are you saying we need to protect our brand by not having a shirt sponsor? I’m not sure how it makes a difference to be honest.

The club makes a loss every year, so I’m not sure how it’s worthwhile to turn down additional sponsorship income?!?
