250th appearance today. What a player he’s been, left blood, sweat and tears on the pitch at Bramall Lane. One of the Hardest working players I’ve seen and without question the best engine. But more than that he’s got the heart of the lion and has been a credit to himself and the club.

Well done Bash, Blades Legend status is surely yours. UTB

Here’s to the next 250!

Those of an older generation (e.g. my father) always reference the real characters of their day... badger, Hodgkinson, Cork etc

Basham is the one I will speak of in my older years, he’s the ‘millennials’ legend if you will. Love the bloke, yes he’s a decent player, but he’s absolutely the type of character that sums up our club and fans. Just fantastic, will be a sad day when he leaves this club.

After a less than auspicious start as part of the Clough 35 random signings, he's exceeded every expectation. Never gives less than 100% and has made this person eat his words as he's made the step up twice.

His physical fitness and engine must be phenomenal. What a man.

I'll be honest I hated him as a player when he played alongside Captain Mceveley, I thought he was terrible.
I am glad he has proved me wrong he is a class player.
I have much love for Basham now.

It was honestly like we'd brought Messi on today such was the contrast when he came on. Not to say Rodwell was bad, he wasn't, but Bash is different gravy.
The thing is, Rodwell is a very good midfielder and it’s what made his career in the prem start off, why so many see him as cover for Basham instead of his best position of midfield is a mystery to me.

Congratulations to Basham by the way, what a player and what a bloke.

Amazing how things can turn out. Until Wilder reinvented him he was destined for the scrap heap.

Cheers Bash - you are in the hall of fame.

Was here before the good times; about the only other player other than Billy to come out of the Adkins season with any credit. He evolved, adapted and has been pivotal to all our success. He’s what- 32 now? And with everyone else being rested today, he still gave us over half an hour and will play start to finish on Friday. He’s like the fucking Terminator; just keeps going with no loss of performance. An absolute machine. He’s our Bashambauer and I love him to bits. Absolute superstar.

Whilst I am delighted by Basham's current form and his progression over his time with us (how much better he looked than the other players when he came on!) I am puzzled as to why it's been decided that was his 250th appearance for us. According to Soccerbase, it was his 262nd appearance:

League: 224 starts, 7 sub
FA Cup: 12 starts, 3 sub
League cup: 6 starts, 3 sub
Playoffs: 2 starts
Johnstone's paint etc: 5 starts

His next start will be his 250th start, that much is true.

Heart of a lion, body of a paper-clip. But it works! Well done Bash!👍

The wide centre back position is quite individual to how we play, a mix of being a traditional centre back and a box to box midfielder. He probably is better as a CM but, if necessary, he could cover Bash. Which is what we need, as we don’t have another CH who has the ability and stamina to do what Bash does.

Yes Bush, I’m not saying he isn’t cover at all for Bash, I’m more insinuating that everybody seems to think this is all he’ll be here to do and that’s his best position, whereas I disagree with this assertion.

Wilder's interview was clear in that he's here as a midfielder, however I think it was about him getting time on the pitch. Him and Jags should have been able to coast through that game in either CM or CB. Bryan found his level.

In that case could we have a bit less of the insinuation and a bit more of plain Yorkshire ‘say what you mean’? I have enough bother trying to understand southerners. 😂

I haven’t heard his interview derek, that’s good to hear regards Rodwell.
