The best since Coutts

I wish somebody would tell George when he gets to the line that he is allowed to cross it - it’s not compulsory to cut back onto his left foot and lose the momentum of the attack.

We look so strong and quick up front with Leon and Don that anything smashed across low or chipped up to the back stick will always be a chance created. As it is, we seem under instructions to try and run it into the box or across the top, rather than knock it in, and frequently lose possession in the process.

With quality final ball we win 3 or 4-1 today.

The Magic is Returning

(By the way, does George have a nickname, as Baldy doesn’t seem quite right?!)

Good performance today - we need to follow it up with some more good results and put another good run together in the league. I hope the likes of Duffy and Clarke sit out the FA Cup next week so they can re-charge their batteries for the Pig game.

But with our recent run of poor form I think it's very encouraging that we appear to becoming more settled in defence and midfield since the Villa game .

yes, agreed. We look better and appear to be letting Lundstram be who he is and not what Coutts was to the team. This might actually work, instead of trying to make Lunny a Coutts mk2.

In defence, I would like Stearman to be the BOSS - like Wright was, but he needs (for me) to learn when to go and when to stay. For me, you can't vacate the centre without cover being aware of it.

We now need competition in certain areas in the JTW.

Preston away highlighted that and today we just needed extra quality in the last 15/20 minutes.......just like Brooks did at Leeds. Could have done with him today and I am sure he would have come on instead of Carruthers (if fit) - who once again did pretty little.

I personally think we’ve generally played well since Coutts’ injury. I just think we are lacking quality in certain areas which would turn the good team that we currently are, into a serious promotion candidate.

I think today and Bolton were good examples, today we played well but didn’t have the quality to find that second goal against a good Derby team. Against Bolton we didn’t play well (maybe a 6/10 performance), but a promotion team would have taken the few chances we had and won the match.

It’s been a great first half of the season and Wilder has performed miracles, but unless we can sign some quality this month he will need a massive Wilder miracle to be promoted this season. End of the day, I’m happy with lower mid table so anything higher is a bonus.
