You obviously weren't in the Sheaf when Bassett and the players were in celebrating staying up in the PL
100% this.
I know for a fact that our early 90's team was barred from their usual London overnight stay hotel for unruly behaviour. Difference is obvs camera phones/social media etc ( plus it was players not Sir Harry!)

There’s the story as well about Howard Kendall taking the whole team on a 5 day piss up on the Isle of Man as preparation for the 97 play off final.

At least Wilder waits til after we’ve achieved something.

Does anyone know. The story behind the part of Wilder's interview where he mentions someone trying to run him over in their car?
He mentioned it in passing in the long post-match press conference. Said that he went for a run at "five or half five or whatever" to clear his head and had to watch out for cars. Joked that it was Wednesdayites trying to take him out but it definitely wasn't serious.

Edit: corrected timestamp in the video

Didn't Vinnie Jones once pull a Kyle Walker and get his cock out in a bar?

It is true, group of them went up eccy rd and to the banner. Obviously people are going to say they went for Wilder but it isn’t true, they were just looking for Blades so I’m told. Obviously didn’t fancy London Rd so went for the easier option which didn’t turn out easy.

At the Banner they get slapped about by normal Blades, as in non hooligan Blades. One pig got took to hospital. There is a few videos kicking about, not a great deal happening on them but shows the pigs jumping about, few blades just stood outside not budging an inch, a pig gets knocked out, punches thrown.. pigs come off second best, thats about it.
Fighting over footballs stupid but I'm happy they got their arses handed to em

I even doubt Eccy and London Rd was even busy with Blades on a Sunday evening anyway. Town was decent but we all know that's a no go...

You wouldn't want to be on a plane sitting between David Barnes & Billy Whitehurst. The promotion holiday in 1990 would be a social media sensation today.

To be honest I'm not a fan of our manager getting pissed jumping about on tables after beating the pigs, should carry himself with a bit more dignity like Dave Bassett used to.

Dave Bassett wasn’t a Blades though, so a Derby win never meant as much to him.
Also without camera phones and social media how we do we know for sure how the manager and players behaved back then.

Think it’s refreshing for managers to show emotion and authenticity…..quite rare these days as most managers are boring and monotone like robots.
If it was a Wednesday manager doing the same I wouldn’t like it but I’d understand it.
It was the same when Vardy scored and was deliberately gesturing towards the Kop….didnt like it but understandable.

Regards Wilder it’s in his own time in a pub…..so,I suppose he can do whatever he wants as long as he doesn’t cross the line.

I agree, the passion and joy are there to see and savour. I was jumping around with the kids like a fool on Sunday, and had too much to drink that night. If you can't enjoy the big moments, what is the point?

The downside for Wilder is that he is there to be shot down, and if and when they beat us, he will need to take it on the chin. But as it stands, he is the best manager in the city.

Apparently, there's some real horror stories from back in Bassett's day, as witnessed by Derek French, but I think only a few privileged got to hear what went off.
I think singing songs in a pub pale into insignificance......

I’m just imagining a load of out of shape, bald men clambering up Ecclesall Road in their Stoney jackets. Isn’t the Rising Sun in Fulwood Chris’s boozer of choice? Seen him in there many times before with his pals.
No it fucking well is NOT! He’s been in very sporadically mostly with Missis and mother in afternoon. Came in with a couple of mates and was loud and leery on Guinness one evening but as I virtually live in the place he ain’t a regular. Seen more of Nigel Pearson in there recently who is a very nice guy. It’s bad enough with my piggy mates in there already without you attracting more of em saying it’s his boozer of choice. Not looking forward to being visited by Mark the Pitsmoor Robber now!

They played as though they had been on a 5 day piss up as well

They were probably knackered after walking up the hill. Must have taken the edge off their combat skills.

How do you know Bassett didn't get pissed and jump on tables?

I was sent a vid of it on WhatsApp. A few scrotes bouncing around and squaring up. Not a lot happening until the camera pans to someone laid out. Not sure of the time, but it was dark. I would share on here, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone getting a knock on the door.... ello, ello, ello

Well back then social media didn't exist so I wouldn't know.

Wilder is a good manager and will take us up, as a figure head of the club shouldn't be behaving like a pissed up fan IMO
As long as everything he's doing is legal I have absolutely no issue. Football needs characters especially ones who fans can identify with! I wouldn't give a shit if another clubs manager was the exact same. Why would I?

I love him acting like a pissed up fan. I hope he carries on for many years to come.

Besides, it's his spare time, he is a fan, and he likes a pint. Not his fault if some prat records him enjoying himself

I’m calling bollocks:

“Nigel Pearson…. is a very nice guy “ ?!?!?!?!

So do I, just a fan same as us living the dream, saw many tweets from fans of other clubs and even Leeds fans to the videos… tweets were basically along the lines of I hate this prick but let’s be honest we’d love it if we had a manager who was a fan and went off like this.

So they got BEATEN twice this week then
