The atmosphere this season

This, this and thrice this. It's contrived, tacky, and worst of all, counter productive. Our version, when not pre-empted, is fast, upbeat and sung in a higher key. When the fans follow the opening bar of the original song its like starting the match with a funeral march. When I first started going back in the 80s, about 15 seconds before KO there used to be a rumble that quickly erupted into a spontaneous, primeval roar. hairs on the back of your neck stuff. It didn't need some jobsworth with a microphone to cheerlead.
Amen brother.. it drives me nuts this it is cringeworthy

When it's Leeds and Wednesday next season, you'll see

I do hope you are right.

It also depends if we have a strong enough team for the crowd to have belief in being 2-0 up after 20 minutes or they spend 75 minutes going 'fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck' as the pigs and the dirties put us under wave after wave of pressure.

pommpey

I agree and think playing the butty song is outdated and it has overstayed its welcome and feels more like the bland start of an american football match than a feisty footy match. I'd be happy for it to be dropped and left to the fans to decide whether to sing this or something else. Anyone feel we should have a site vote on this ?

i dont think it sounds tacky - far from it. I was at NFL last month and (altho was class) it's a far cry from having a child like Jaguar roaring through the speakers amongst first down bongs.

question i have is whether the folk at the front/mid of the Kop (or anywhere else in ground) that chime up singing the GCB will at all chime up with whatever that back of the kop may replace with. I don't think they will and think the atmosphere will be poorer.

If a spontaneous GCB song got a quarter of the fans singing it that we have now I would agree, as of now most fans will only hear the last two lines and it will sound lake a quiet mumble.

I hope last 25 mins proves to opening poster that the atmosphere was always there. Just it hard to get exicted of minnows weve played for 6 years
