Here's a slightly alternate suggestion with regards to third goal, and apologies if somebody has already mentioned it.
From where I was, and I confess Obviously, I've only seen it once in real time, the center-half was happy to play on and pass it forward to their player who I thought deliberately lifted his foot and let it run out of play. But the player who was supposed to have been injured, was up and running and back in active play before the ball went out.
I'm not so sure if our players would even have known that the lad who let the ball go, did so on purpose, (if he did?) , it could have easily been seen as a mis-control (it had been happening all night to be fair).
If United's players were tracking the ball, as Reading were playing it out of defence, not sure they would have noticed there was a potential injury to a player.
He didn't go down, and they didn't inform the referee it had been put out of play for treatment to their player.
Reading didn't set up from the resulting throw to receive the ball back and the referee hadn't indicated anything.
Finally, any degree of sympathy I may have had evaporated on the way back to the car, when a respectably dressed bloke about 50ish approached my 12 year old and said 'F****** Cheats'.
Was that really necessary, fortunately Our Dan defused the situation by laughing and responding 'You need to take better penalties mate'.
