In Adkins post match interview he said he had let go 25 players from our squad.

Incredible that he even thinks this is the correct number.

Off the top of my head I can think of:-

1 - Murphy
2 - DiMaio
3 - Scougall (loan)
4 - McNulty (loan)

who else?

Alcock, Khan, Harris, Higdon, Freeman and some others I can't remember off the top of my head.
Probably wasn't 25 but he's had to shift a LOT.

There is no fucking way we've got shut of 25 he's talking out of his Arse. Unless he's counting that scouse druggie cunt as 4 or 5

Collins? I thought 25 sounded ridiculous but he seemed certain on the number!!

he'd not included those who were on their way at 0900 tomorrow.

Murphy
Baxter (not down to Adkins, he was the fool who gave him a second chance)
McFadzean???

Thats 11-13.

He's probably counting kids who were in the U21 squad.

He does like to bend the truth.

He's seeing double. Perhaps he needs to pop in to Specsavers and get his lenses re examined.

According to McCabe at the corporate fans thing last week, he paid Collins off to get rid, he also was not impressed by any of Clough's or Adkins signings, bar Billy.

I wonder if he has told another nine players they are leaving

Hammond, Edgar,Sammon,Baptiste,Flynn,Cuvellier, McEverley,Woolford and two of the kids ?

I thought it was going to be a thread about the direction of travel of 25 of Clough's signings. In the history of Sheffield United FC, has a manager ever failed to make a signing who goes on to a higher club?

I think Clough is onto a record with us, and that's from a base at the arse end if football, with a huge number of signings.

To the OP, I'm sure he's got the total number he's got to shift on in his head, which in itself is appalling.

To be fair, Adams might end up playing in a higher league. Still, one out of 25 isn't a good record.

That's 16, plus the following according to soccerbase:

Iain Turner
Ioan Evans (Loan)
David Cockerline (Loan)

Jake Phillips was also signed and left under Adkins, but suppose you shouldn't count him.

Another website has a few more names:

Sam Berry
Jason Paling
Kyle Scarisbrick

So up to 22, granted we're scraping the barrel with youngsters who haven't been near the first team but I suppose they are still pros that have left.

I think Adkins knows what a lot of us think about the current squad, so to inflate the figure to 25, I suppose shows him in a better light. With the little money that has been hinted at available, in the summer, I don't think we are going to see the mass exodus most of us crave. We are still going to be served up average journeymen such as Basham, Done, etc next season. Depressing.

Adkins actual quote was that he'd got rid of 25 players since he arrived. You can therefore scratch the names of Doyle, Turner, Davies, Berry, Paling & Scarisbrick and we are back down to 16 again.

Of those 16, McNulty, Scougall & Freeman are still contracted to us, and Wallace may be, not sure if he got a 2 or 3 year deal. He has therefore successfully moved on 12 or 13, half of the number he said he had.
