The 1st division table on the day JFK was assassinated (60 years ago today)

Very true. I can do arithmetic quickly with pen and paper, but 92 is an awful lot to do (some teams were alone on their points total, so could be ignored). Were there perhaps charts with all the permutations in sequence (eg 25 divided by every number between 1 and 100?)
Charts must have been the way to go. Goals for on one axis and goals against on the other. 100 on each axis.

Have a vision of a room with people calling GF / GA and people shouting back GA

We were also top of what is now the Championship on the day Princess Diana died (finished 6th and missed out on promotion) and were 5th in the Premier League when Covid hit (finished 9th and missed out on Europe).

Certainly makes you think...
We drew 0-0 at Huddersfield away the day before. It was particularly memorable for me because I went to the game and when I got home, split up from the wife and left and then was awoken at 4am the following morning by my Mum and she told me Princess Di had been killed.
