We’ve listened to him for 18 months now and he nails it everytime he speaks.

In an age of disinterest in the national team, an acceptance that prem teams are all about money, a nationwide loss of connection with where football comes from...

...and the more other teams fans hear him and watch what we’re about... it’s becoming clear that we’re quicky becoming a bit envied... and rightly so... We proper spit in the face of what football has become.

I fucking love my football club.

Agreed. I also think that we could be setting new standards for how hard a team works. I genuinely haven't seen a team work harder, and loads of opposition fans have said so.
You can imagine that in some of our 'return' games we will find it a little more difficult as teams try to match our work rate.

Brilliantly put.

It's one thing to simply have a decent manager, but to have one who encapsulates the spirit that is instinctive in every true supporter is something else entirely.

We're living in a rare and precious moment right now. Enjoy every minute of it. We won't have this stars-aligning moment again in our lifetime.

Stop it. I will cry again. :)

We can only hope that those stars stay aligned for as long as possible.

I've said it before, but CW really is our golden ticket. Imagine if we managed to keep him for 15 years !!!!!

I entirely agree with your sentiments about the national team and the bloated conceitedness of the prem, however I will become much more interested in the premier league when we are in it next season and international football when our players start getting picked!

It's so refreshing though to have a manager that sees exactly the same game as 90% of the fans (or at least the fans who know owt about footie). He calls it right every time, he doesn't blame outside influences, he doesn't get hysterical when one of our players gets fouled. Did anyone note the lack of reaction to the Baldock challenge and the way he brushed it off in the interview? Some of his subtle comments regarding the pub league tag have been brilliant.

I honestly think that CW could become our Shankly/Busby or Clough snr (at Forest). I think he already has similar characteristics to Clough snr, albeit in the modern era.

I only hope that McCabe and the Prince see this and ensure they look after him properly.

Amen to that brother...Sat in my office in Cambridge chatting about this with a Leeds fan..brilliant

It's the natural miserable bastard in me to think about it all ending when it's all so good right now.

Picture the scene: Last month I'm walking down Bramall Lane with a mate of mine after we'd stuffed the Pigs (we'd been boozing on London Rd).
We walked past the Copthorne and my mate pointed out Kevin McCabe and Chris Wilder, pint in hand, chatting away and laughing with jubilant Unitedites after such a good day.
We went inside and spoke to both of them, got a few photos and what not.

Then I just looked around the room reflecting on the previous year and the season thus far, the owner, the manager, a few of the players and the fans, all happy, all part of a club that has defied every expectation placed on us from outside.
I just thought 'This doesn't happen to us, it's such a rare and priceless time and feeling, and it won't always be so.'

Then again, when that day comes, to paraphrase Dr Seuss, I won't be sad because it's over, I'll smile because it happened.

Then we'll still get our just rewards as they wilt in the last 15 mins :)

Superbly put OP.

In other news, listening to Talksport last night and the Everton job was discussed. The two names discussed? Ancelotti and our Wilder. Wow. Just wow.

It's wherever you go as well, bumped into somebody in Sainsburys yesterday talking about United, next thing tap on shoulder, alreet Phil, (thats my name) brilliant init, walking back to the car another couple straight into it, not about the leeds game just, well, in general, these people had stopped going but are back into it, amongst everything that is good at the moment it's the commeradiary everywhere I go, the fanswho had fell out with it want to be back and, for me it's the interest and excitement amongst the new fans that I am loving, all down to Chris and Al, everything considered this is what I am enjoying as much as anything else, 14 months? Wonder what the next 14 months will bring, it's our time.UTFB

BUT!!!,
HRH want's to be more hands on and he wants to bring in overseas players because their cheaper .
Will this change the dressing room ?

It was his reaction that I think started this need to share. I’ve thought it for a long time... but at that moment (regardless if that was what he really thought) it smacked me in the face... if I was a supporter of ANY club across the country he was saying everything that I’d want to hear.

There will obviously be a massive question mark regarding can he work like this in the Premiership when the balance of power is so much greater towards the player... but I look forward to seeing him try (hopefully one day with us, but if not with us I’d truly want him to succeed).

Welcome to the revolution.

I can't help but think that the blueprint for what Wilder achieved last season was set in motion by what happened a few miles up the road just a few months earlier. Not exactly the same circumstances but there are similarities.

If you think back to the season Adkins was in charge the standout team in that division was Barnsley who miraculously went from rock bottom to an unstoppable force by the end of the campaign. Winning promotion and the EFL Trophy.

I honestly think McCabe saw what happened at Barnsley that season with them appointing Barnsley lad and former player Paul Heckingbottom and it influenced his decision in bringing Wilder in.

Ironicically, the match that started their resurgence that season was the 1-1 draw against us when they scored a last minute equaliser at Oakwell in late November.

Any Blades who tend not to go regularly need to get to the Lane as often as they can as this is something special.

I find more of a connection with this group than Warnocks squads of 2003 or 2006.

I've stated on here before that on the evening of the Southend debacle his post game interview was incredible. He spoke truthfully and honestly about the situation we were in and was a breath of fresh air from the moronic cliches we are usually bombarded with from football managers. It was obvious that he had a plan and given time could turn things around. The subsequent 14 months have proven to be inspirational and as much as he has me bursting with pride, I am genuinely delighted for him. Weird cause I've never met the man.

If he hadn’t witnessed the 3/4 years of shit when he came on board maybe. But he did so no chance. I think he’s smart enough (and relies on his own opinion more than advisers) to understand ‘coach Chris’ has been game changing. In purely my opinion. Could be very wrong.

Has there ever been such widespread man love for our manager? Not in over 45 years, if ever.

Before we think about spending big, we should concentrate on making Wilder financially secure. We can’t match the big boys, but we can reassure him them that no matter what, his family will be secure forever.

The biggest risk we face is not selling talent, it’s losing Wilder to someone else, and it’s important that the weaker mined amongst us show some metal when we have a bad spell

If that’s you, then fucking man up, sharpish. :)

This.
Thumbs up emoji.

The OTHER Wilder effect for me, which I could never have predicted is the strange urge I have to have gay babies with him.

Anyone else or just me?

Absolutely my thoughts.
As a pessimist also, every week I think, "this is as good as it gets" but it still gets better.
I don't want anything to change but the nearer we get to the Premier League, the more it's likely to.
Unlike a previous poster I am not sure I want to be in the Premier League as it will probably change all the things that I admire about this team.
I certainly don't want international recognition for our players and the unsettling effects that can bring.
I like it "Under the Radar" but it's difficult to be that when you are top of the league.
I just hope we're not tempted to bring in any players that will change the team spirit and togetherness that Chris has nurtured.
I love supporting this team of players largely brought in from lower divisions who give their all every week.

The pundits on Sky couldn't really handle his response to the Leeds victory. Expecting him to gush about our win against the "mighty" Leeds. They were shocked when he said "we could have played a lot better." It just exposed the cunts for an obvious lack of research.
