For the second time running we've let the pigs back into a match we should have won comfortably! Why the hell do we never ever do it at bloody Hillsbrough?

Spineless and gutless. Morgs back quick please!

Spineless and gutless. :
Can understand the huge disappointment at snatching a draw from the jaws of victory, but 'spineless & gutless' is a bit strong.

Why do people resort to childish name calling to vent disappointment? I'm certain none of our players have no spine or lack guts, football sometimes happens this way, difficult to swallow i know, but no need for the nasty names.

The Filth were lucky with their second....but hey never mind. The deluded scumbags are celebrating a draw with us like they have just beaten Man Utd 6-0

U (Bladefisher) sound like a Pig. And what you on about - we've won more at they Sty recently than they have at the Lane. Agree with u on Morgs tho - missed him against their shite long ball / long throw game.

thought there were 2 fouls on our players as they equalised
how they dare ever say we ply hoof ball when they even robbed delaps throw in routine

pure up and under stuff and they got lucky , poor ref missed it

Spineless and gutless is incredibly harsh. For most of the second half, it was a first class defensive performance from the Blades.

Our problem was that we didn't defend from the front after half time. Not having a go at Cresswell and Evans, there was no way they could win the ball in the air against those giants in their defence, but we started knocking the ball direct - not hoofball like the Grunters - and it kept coming back. We needed to play through McDonald for me and go for a third goal. Also, Wilson might have made an error in taking off Williamson as Marshall came into the game from that point.

Maguire and Collins were excellent IMO. We were let down by a combination of the referee and our goalkeeper who we can no longer afford to make excuses for.

Agreed. Obviously pissed off as we've let them back in, but I thought a draw was fair - in fact if the game had gone on a bit longer they'd have won.

And why? Because our attack/service to the attack is pitful. Especially at home, we should have penned them back more but as usual it's aimless punts and hope Cressy & Ched can somehow outrun and outfight 2 or 3 defenders. After that performance, Simmo must go. It was obvious that Megson is trying to build the 'Stoke' of the third division and, if refs let them ,they will foul and bully their way up.

Right, that's my 'fair play' hat taken off. We should have had a pen. in the first minute, the ref. was very selective with was constitutes a foul and I'd send that cunt Johnston off before he kick a ball (or more usually, player).

Can't be pleased with letting 2 goals slip, but it was naive to sit back. They'd done enough around our goal to suggest something would come off. And I definitely want to know why the lineman had his flag up for the equaliser. Was it because he thought the ball had crossed the line? Or did he just shit it?

he gave the goal. That centre half jumped simmo never even looked at the ball.

There have been too many question marks over Simmo for him to remain for me. Having said that, I was certain the goal would be ruled out for a foul.

Right for the umpteenth time coming to terms with my disappointment.

A few questions.

For Darren, Q1 when was the last time the Blades came back from 2-0 against the Pigs to get a point? Q2 When was the last time we played the Pigs and it wasn't televised or on a national broadcast that we won? Seemed to have developed the TV curse against them of late. If it is not televised but only on the radio we can't win.

For you long suffering fellow Blades who went, what is it with our lot that is causing these cave ins? OK so it was 'them' but it seems to happening a bit too often for my liking of late. Heard it on R5xtra and couldn't believe it. Seems like investment is needed in defence to get a bit of steel back, otherwise we'll be known as the 'chinas' - one crack and they've had it. Dear oh dear.

As for Mr Deano this is a man who won't even wear anything blue on match days so don't call me a grunter thank you. Passionate maybe, pissed off yes, but Pig no. And thank you all other posters for your understanding. When you can't be there, it is worse believe you me.

Ok Bf - apologies that was out of order. I'm disappointed to let a 2 goal lead slip but lets not go overboard. We still have the better of things overall v the Pigs & they have only won once at the Lane in 40 odd years. A draw was probably fair but I'd hate to watch them every week - everything they did seemed about winning a throw so they could hurtle it in. And had we had a stronger keeper and/or ref we'd have won.

Thanks Deano, my round next ;-) when I'm down.

Interesting listening to R5X (which was really Radio Sheff). Keith was saying in the old days (Bassett/Warnock/Blackwell) Wednesday were the passers and Blades were the "hoofers" and know its role reversal. Perhaps that's why Smegson didn't get the job - his hoof was worse than Neil's hoof!

He also said that United failed to keep the ball enogh in the last 30 and thus invited them onto us. Of course with brittle defence disease once when went in we just went to pieces.

As it has been for the last few years we are more afraid of losing than playing to win grab an early two goal lead fall back instead of continuing to play the way that got us the lead.
When will this club get some killer instinct.

The last time we came back from 2 down to get a point against them was not very long ago at all. Towards the end of the 2007-8 season, when Beattie equalised with that fantastic free kick at the kop end.

Re your second question, I'm not sure what you are asking. You seem to be asking when did we last win against them in a match that was not broadcast. I don't know the answer to that one.

The general consensus seems to be that after we take the lead we let other teams back into the game and then we crumble towards the end.

You only have to look back to 4th October to see that this isn't necessarily so.

Football fans have selective memories.

I think he is asking when did we last win in a match that wasn't televised. That would be in the 2005-06 season when we won both games and both were played in the traditional Saturday 3pm slot.

By the way if you are an optmist you can now make a point of the fact that we now have a 3 game unbeaten run against SWFC, or, if you are a pessimist, wallow in the fact that we have only won 1 of the last 7 games.

Why draw the line at 7 games. Ten is a nice round number and in that number of games we have won 4 to their 3!
