They'll say they were unlucky.
They'll say that they had one sent off.
They'll say that they missed a penalty.
The truth is we destroyed em.
UTB
After the game, in the Beer Engine, Ken Jnr and I had a chat with 3 Wolves fans who were staying up in Sheffield.
All mid to late 40s so they are seasoned followers.
They were talikng amongst themselves about their lack of a plan B given that Wilder's tactics had negated their game plan with the wing backs.
Accent pretty obvious so we started a conversation with them (I love talking to oppo fans before and after a game btw)
They all said how impressed they were with us and thought we were one of the best teams they had played with the movement and pulling them right and left.
No sour grapes at all. One of the blokes questioned the sending off as he thought Coady wasn't the last man but the other two thought it was a reasonable decision.
All said the pen was soft - and so weren't that dismayed when it was misssed (?? I know i would have been if we'd missed a soft pen).
They were disappointed with the Wolves fans noise, even though we complimented them on the numbers for a mid week away game and that it's tough to get more vocal when you have gone down to 10 men early doors.
They asked us if we thought we'd get promotion
Emphatic, "No" from both of us - we're just enjoying the ride at the moment and taking each one as it comes. Not getting too far ahead of ourselves.
They were pissed off about Clarke - they said he was crap for them - but acknowledged that Wilder was playing him to his strengths.
All in all, a very good evening.
