My issue is with Lundstram trotting around like he has seniority. In the same way Southampton took the armband off that player when he didn't want to commit, Lundstram should be told he's not in charge on the pitch, and to listen to his teammates.

For a start, he shouldn't be afforded opportunities to take penalties, that should be Berge if Sharp or Norwood aren't on.

I have no issue with him playing for us, but in my opinion, starting him is doing him a favour by putting him in the shop window (assuming his performances are alright), and doing us no favours because either January or Summer, we'll be missing a body who's potentially played the majority of games.

Let him see his contract out if he wants from the bench and in the cup, and come up with a three that we can build with.

For me next game should be Osborn, Norwood, Berge.

Sorry but I have to agree with those who say it was a poor pen and very good place for the keeper to save. Telegraphed it, not enough power, and perfect height for keeper.

It was a poor pen and he lacked quality. But knowone with eyes can have watched that match and doubted his effort, I don't think anyone put more effort in all night, whatever the issues with his contract. Clearly Wilders does not doubt his commitment on the field either.

Lunny's general effort today was very good. The problem we had was that when Egan went off we had no clear leadership and therefore no one to take charge of the penalty situation.
That said, Lunny seemed to be taking most of the set pieces, anyway, so he was probably the designated taker. He's playing for a better contract somewhere else and he's worth more to us in that mood than a few hundred thousand from a Prem rival.
He's a better, more dynamic option on the right side than Norwood (whose delivery has been abysmal in recent games) so I'd stick with him.
We desperately need a win to change the whole mindset before the season starts to run away from us.

Agree. The great Bill Shankly stated that you are only as good as your last game. Yes, last season was incredible and yes we have worked miracles in the last 3 years but the onus is to keep building and improving. Yes it is only game 2, but this is now 5 premier league defeats on the spin. Villa are pants and they made us look ordinary. So applying the Bill Shankly test, make no bones about it, we are in trouble. Berge must be regretting his decision to come to this club. Lundstram is not as good as he would have you believe. He had a purple patch last season but that is all.

Classic Blade’s fans, can’t resist kicking our own players. The real issue with the pen is that the twat officials didn’t order it to be retaken, the keeper didn’t have a foot on the line when it was taken, as per new season rules and following the Man Itd precedent at the weekend

Not sure where Lundstram figures in the penalty taking stakes but quite rare to have so many takers missing. I think Norwood, Sharp, McGoldrick have been recognised takers, plus Osborn was excellent in the shoot out the other day and Berge also scored.

What's that make him? 5th or 6th choice taker.

I wonder why Berge didn't take it? He took a good one last week. I much prefer either Osborn's top bin effort or to see them low at the corners. Once you decide to kick it off the ground, it has to be high up otherwise just put it along the floor.

I can't think of many other obvious takers that were on the pitch at the time.

Lunny created the pen chance with a brilliant ball out of defence. The pen wasn't great but was no where near as bad as McBurnie's last Thursday. He offered far more in the game than Fleck - although I don't rate Lundstram's set piece delivery. We need to be signing someone to put pressure on him and when he pisses off for that person to replace him.
