Yes, it's the striker Billy Sharps fault that we let 5 goals in tonight. Fuck all to do with the fact that Carter Vickers gift wrapped 2 of them and Basham was 7 miles away from his man for the 3rd.
Let's all fucking blame Billy Sharp, the forums favourite target.
Defend as a team, attack as a team.
Individual errors happen up top as well as at the back.
Nothing really came off for Sharp, he was poor, and spent most of the night under the total control of their centre halves. Deal with it. Doesn’t mean anyone hates him, that is what happened.
All goals are avoidable if you look hard enough, but players are human and make errors. First goes without saying, CCV tried to play the back pass early when in truth he had more time to make sure he got it right.
Second had some luck for them to fall where it did, and the lad did seem to then run through several players too easily before getting a good shot away.
Third Enda was done wide and couldn’t stop the cross, and the three centre halves didn’t pick up the men in the box and body positions meant they couldn’t spot the runners. Could also be an issue with communication. But as full back Bash isn’t at fault IMHO their runner didn’t come in from the flank he ran through the middle.
Fourth and fifth were on the break, and due in the main to who was left facing the one v ones. Lundstram is so immobile and slow.
So there we go, no direct fault of Billy for the goals but it can be argued he was as guilty as anyone for giving the ball away which in turn means we are then having to get the ball back. Clarke score three, and had a couple more efforts. I think Billy had one effort on goal which he didn’t connect with and was deflected over by a defender. Clarke at the moment is a much better striker than Sharp as he isn’t completely reliable on service. And while Coutts is out we lose control, control is what allows the roaming centre halves which in turn creates chances for over laps and delivery into the box. And that is where Sharps movement and finishing get involved.
