Ditto Huddersfield in their first PL season, if not as good as Hull's (who did finish 17th) , then finished 16th.

He’s allowed to be disappointed, so are the players, we should be appreciative of what they’ve done for us. Staying up means we get another £100m and an extra year of parachute payments should we go down. That’s vital in our current situation.
So yes, I’d take 17th. But if we look safe with games to go I know CWAK will push the players to finish the season well.

Couldn't believe the number of fans coming off the kop after the game chanting "we're all going on a European tour".

Whilst I admire their enthusiasm I do think it's a bit early to be putting the cart before the horse, and I do wonder if they'll be the first to start booing when we have an off day.

Highs too high and lows too low and all that.

Man City away to Man City at home is horrendous (on paper, at least). I dont like to jinx anything, but a major strength for me is our settled side. But a couple of injuries here, the odd suspension there (bound to happen with the stupid yellows doled out) and we’re plugging gaps. Not to say the players coming in wont rise to it, but its a slight concern. If we did have any issues going into Jan, we can at least bring in reinforcements, but December is monumental; if we carry on as we are and with the fixtures we have, we could legitimately be around 30pts by the time we go to the Etihad.

If we stay up, then for me it would be even bigger than getting up. Not just in the achievement, but everything else; financially, commercially, recruitment wise and perhaps most importantly- retaining players/staff. It could set us up for a generation.

So to answer the question; yes, Id definitely take 17th, but am quietly growing in confidence that we’ll do quite a bit better.

They are universal features and every club plays the other clubs twice.

It’s absurd Little Sheffielder thinking and it’s an embarrassment. It really is time our fans got off their knees and declared some pride in our team rather than wallowing in the affectation of ‘humility’ and cap-doffing every other team in sight. Remember how many invertebrates gave up on promotion every time we had a setback last season?

We have an excellent team and superb management. Let’s celebrate them rather than seeing ghosts around every corner.

Actually I think there are benefits to finishing 10th rather than 17th.
We get more money. Compared with other PL clubs, we’re not rich and we could do with it.
It will help with our recruitment. Better players might think twice about joining a club that finished 17th as they could be walking into another relegation fight. They won’t if we finish 10th.
But if we end up 17th, I’ll still say ‘well done’.

Nowt to do with it Pinchy. We’re punching above our weight as we’ve always done with CWAK and what that means is we’re getting more out of our resources than others. However to pretend that these advantages of higher wage bills supporting deeper squad depth, and January spending power can’t have an negative affect on us compared to others is naive.
I’ve total faith that we’ll continue to get much more out of what we have than all the other teams in the league, but to not acknowledge the risk is just burying your head in the sand daftness.
