Thanks Chris Wilder

We should have played our best team and risked injuries then? Our neighbours did that and have lost Bannan and Hutchinson. We lost a game of football. Take a look around you and take a look at the news and the pain people are going through this morning. You have no idea what a depressing Monday is like have you?

Spot on. Some people have no sense of perspective. We lost a game of fkin football.

People go on about Wilder having a low budget and how well he’s done off it which is bang on the money but surely the FA Cup is the chance to enhance that budget even further, perhaps letting us bring a better player in during this transfer window? Beat Barnet, then get a good tie against Prem opposition and you’re not far off £750k?
Or you might get a Sunday afternoon game at Oldham or Newport or Gillingham ;)

For making the worst most depressing Monday even more so.
Sure you'll say you bare responsibility. Yeah easy for you to say. And so easy to forgive for those who don't give a shit/ concentrate on the league/ not a priority crew.
You had chance to improve your own cup skill as in pick that had a semblance of a team. No, pick players that have hardly ever played together and expect them to be a team against a team that play together week in week out.
Not bothered who you sign for us, always want them to do well but give them a chance to be backed up by the rest of the team.
Disrespectful to the opposition. Disrespectful to the competition, Disrespectful most of all to the paying fans some of who, the game was the one they could afford to see their heroes in?
Don't worry we'll all get over it when you finish us in the top two. God forbid we don't end up in that cup competition that is the play offs.

There is no magic of the cup without results like ours, long may it continue otherwise we will be deciding results on bank statements.

Given the journey we’ve been/are on and the current league position, this was never going to be anything close to depressing. It’s disappointing yes, but look at the bigger picture. Where we are as a club not where we are in one competition.

Next year, we’ll have another chance to not win the FA Cup.

Go with 'Experienced' that's how I describe myself. Covers all bases :)

Oh I'm experienced. As in "this car will cost too much to repair, it's totally experienced"

;)

I didn't even check the score until well into the second half.

Couldn't care less. QPR MATTERS.
This is true to a certain extent but the bigger picture is what is worrying and Tufty's reaction completely backs this up.

Those players, individually and collectively, should have shown way more than they did yesterday and the fact we laid down and lost to a non-League team is totally against what Tufty has built, and the players have achieved in the last 2 1/2 years.

The whole ethos of the squad is 2 players per position and whenever called upon, anyone should seemlessly fit into the team/system. OK, it was a wholesale change yesterday but these players train together, you're not telling me that they don't interchange the players during training and just keep the 1st XI together at all times.

If they were busting a gut to force themselves into the 1st team squad yesterday, how many can say they should be ? That's the worrying thing for me from that performance yesterday. The squad, on that performance, is way behind where we need to be.

We chucked the cup to concentrate on the league, QPR made the mistake of taking it seriously, the fools.
Not much point in QPR turning up on Saturday, they've got their priorities all wrong.

Given some of the posts concerning the Barnet game, I wonder how some of us would actually deal with genuine despondency?

I'm talking about real life grief, such as a loved one facing death, or a young child with terminal illness. Hysterical over-reaction seems the order of the day when you put this in context. Get a fucking grip for fuck's sake, you, and the club, will survive. Disappointments happen, it's what we all have to face during our lives, but for god's sake, do stop whingeing!

I can't blame Chris for yesterday sorry. That team should wipe the floor with absolutely any conference team, they should be ashamed.

It’s almost like all the moaners and groaners have had so little to moan and complain about under Wilder that’s they’ve just been sat, chomping at the bit, waiting for something like this to happen and now all the pent up pessimism is uncontrollable!

That's exactly it! They cannot wait to jump on here and moan and have a dig. I swear some of them have pre-typed messages just ready to go at 4.50pm.

It is quite remarkable !

Fair point Danny, but I have to ask, what pessimism? What on earth has any supporter of the Blades got to be pessimistic about?

I thought we were rubbish yesterday, I hated the fact that grown men, who are paid a great deal of money, failed to beat a non-league side.....but the bile that's been directed towards Chris Wilder is completely way off the mark. Does anyone think that Wilder didn't instruct his players to play to the system they should be familiar with? To give their all for the club? Do you not think that Wilder wouldn't have been fuming at what he saw yesterday? All this pointing of fingers, casting blame in the direction of Wilder, it's as if all logic is suspended and the understandable disappointment that we all felt was somehow reduced to a whirlwind of irrational anger. Somehow, everything that Wilder has worked towards is marginalised, and all because we lost a game to a non-league side. Yes, it was horrific, but we'll survive, and I hope Wilder is considering the futures of (some of) those same players who wore the shirt yesterday.

This was me at the full time whistle:

"Well, that was depressing."

This was me outside the ground:

"I wonder what's for tea?"
At least you went to the game. How many of the whingers, like the team, actually turned up?

It's not moaning, it's a genuine concern that the backup players might not be good enough or didn't show the desire we would expect. What if Norwood breaks his leg, Fleck does his hammy and is out for 2 months, JOC or Egan get a long term injury (or are sold !) etc. We've been pretty lucky that the core of the team has been together injury free for most of the season but as Tufty said post-match, you're only ever minutes away from losing a player every game as we saw last season.

Just a couple of points:
If you win the 3rd tie you get £67,500 prize money. That’ll pay 1/8 of a loan fee.
take care of the pennies, etc
WOULD NEVER HAVE GOT THIS WITH ADKINS :mad::mad:
(sorry it's you again Rodley, didn't notice that as I scanned through) looks like Adkins may have 'got lucky' again now he's been given time to shape a team:
P 12 W 8 D 3 L 1 F 27 A 10 Pts 27 - looking like this seasons late challengers. Although they did get knocked out of the cup yesterday.

Very true! There’s nothing to be pessimistic about. Like you say, it’s a poor result & the players that played ought to think long and hard about their performance. Move on.

normally I can get over any defeat by 7pm on a Saturday, but that one has stung, because if you lose a league game you go again on Tuesday or Saturday. we dont recify this until january 2020. im happy for barnet that they have a great day out & great memories. but I really dont understand these killjoys that are happy we're out of the cup. wilder done an outstanding job we dont deny that & I still believe its the players at fault, mainly the defence. but cup run are amazing things all the numerous great nights, who didnt look Newport & hope that couldve been us. that is 1 thing that is lacking under wilder as great reign as been a cup run is lacking as we never had one under him. longest we got was last season the underwhelming Ipswich reserves, preston reserves & leicesters reserves. thats why Warnock to some will always still nudge wilder as the better manager

then theres the money £135000 for 3rd round, £180000 for 4th round, £360000 for 5th round, £720000 for quarter final & on top of that if your televised its another £150000

I don't think it's a case of being glad we are out of the cup it's more of a realisation that it simply does not matter in the grand scheme of things. The league and promotion is paramount compared to a cup competition with no guarantees of progression. We could hit a top 6 side next round so prize money is speculation.

We are looking after the 11 players that will start on Saturday to give them the best chance of getting a result that will improve our chances of promotion.

Cup competitions are every year while promotion opportunities and far less frequent but come with an incomparable pot of money.

*If anything positive was to come from the poor showing yesterday is that the first choice 11 will be under no illusions of what they have to do this Saturday. Anything less that 100% commitment will be met with the wrath of CW.

The Cup has gone, get over it people as promotion is still very much on.

True. That cash would have been useful to help pay for Madine's wages and transfer fee.

I finally got to watch the game today. Despite what I read I do not think the team played rubbish, just safe, unwilling to take the risk of making a mistake. No drive, trying but not pushing themselves. On the other hand Barnet played with a lot more assurance than we have seen from some Championship clubs, without all the hoofball we saw from many League Two clubs over the weekend. This eleven is not the 'team' that Wilder built and, as individuals, they will do OK as subs - just as Cranie showed when subbing for Basham. Couldn't believe they lost and think Wilder was right to call them out. Will be interested to see how Madine pans out and think Dowell will do fine.
