Thanks Besic. Sons crying.

Sure enough, a few moments later when Egan went in for a header at a corner Laporte was rattled again and seemed to react to Egan, which Egan handled brilliantly. McBurnie was perhaps a little less measured as he leaned his head in to break it up.

I also assumed it was a case of doing a job - no sense in letting Laporte settle in after his lengthy injury; our ideal was that he would be worried every time a ball came in.

With the corner, it looked like McB had actually gone in with an arm to Laporte's head, but then it was Egan who ended up in a tangle of bodies on the floor with him. I think Laporte was angry at Egan in a case of mistaken identity and therefore Egan's reaction was one of true innocence...and of course Egan is a class act in any case.

I loved Egan's reaction. He's a big lad, but not massive and looks pleasant and unassuming. But he didn't back down at all and looked like he was measuring Laporte up, waiting for him to make the 1st move. No panic, just wait... Great to see.

He was tidy on the ball. Probably our most accurate passer of the game. They were mostly short and safe passes, but we had a lot of trouble keeping the ball, so it was very welcome.

Defensively, surprisingly I don’t think he did much, actually. No tackles and no interceptions (Norwood was poor on the ball, but made several important interceptions (very overlooked part of his game)), and the booking was stupid, really.

Positionally Besic was ok, although in the first half thought felt he got in the way of our attacks with one or two of his runs. Was better in the 2nd half. He was busy out of possession and most of the time he was goalside or trying to get goalside of the ball and being in the way.

Overall, considering it was Man City, he did well, and would be up for seeing some more of him in the upcoming games.

He also won me a few quid on first booking!

Difficult to fit to the tune I would imagine.

Oh, hang on, sorry - I thought you were replying to the Besic Song post.

When he's facing an opposition player he hangs so close to the ground, like an orangutan, or a chimpanzee; I kept expecting him to suddenly leap into the air like he was doing a simian star-jump. Come to think of it, I saw him picking at John Egan's nits and eating them whilst waiting for a corner.

I thought he was going to rugby tackle a couple of theirs last night, such a bizarre starting position.

That's why, for me, Besic is a sub and Lunny starts

Good idea for now but I just think that when Besic is up to match speed it will be a toss up who starts as they both have great attributes for the midfield role. I’d star with the one who is on form at the time - let them fight for the shirt !

UTB.

It looked like he said something to Laporte as they were both getting up and then he flipped.

I got 25/1 for him to be sent off AFTER he was yellow carded.

Thought it would be printing money then CW took him off

At the risk of looking uncool. I see the "sons crying" or "kids ruwerin" phrases being used amongst Blades on social media. Where's it all from?
