Thank you Preston

I know I'm saying this with hindsight, but thank goodness we lost to Preston. Today was so much more important and really gives us fresh hope. Who would have thought the Beard coming home would make such a difference.

IF, by some staggering miracle, we were to go up through the play-offs this season ... I think it should be mandatory for all Blades players to have beards !!

Rubbish to the thank you Preston bit. If we did not play today but had Man U on Monday There'd be so much more excitement.

Don't agree Boo , players neshing tackles to avoid injury , more points dropped , falling further down the league , then when we did get beaten people moaning about not going up , concentrating to much on the cups , so far under Mr Clough , we've had 2 semi finals , and who knows what at the end of the year .
Promotion for me .

Yep with a really big squad they nesh tackles. Too much competition for places for that. I have not seen it in any of the cup runs we've had I would take winning the league or fa cup at Wembley above any promotion. I would even take it in getting relegated to the 4th

Said it on another thread. If you are not excited by today's result go get yourself to a doctor, you need help. Even Harrys Game will be smiling tonight.
Only because he's in the big city looking at tall buildings :)

We all perhaps now realise the cup run was a nice to have . It means nowt if we are still stuck in League 1 . Again another cliche but lets concentrate game for game on the league , and now we cant derail ourselves.

Thank god we are out of the cup yes, but the beard doesn't make a team and to be quite honest I'm getting fed up of people sucking his arse, he's just another player in our great colours. Win as a team lose as a team!

Says who? Only the glory hunters. Most of us know what's most important.
Define a glory hunter? Football is not important compared to your health. It is not life or death, it is more important than that! Who said that? What do you watch football for? I take it if we ever got tp a cup final you would not go.

I think a thanks to Matty Done is also in order, we was asking a lot of him and yet he's sat on 3 goals in 2. Not bad for someone who played left back until this season eh lads

Dam right I'm a glory hunter Ihave been since the early 70s. If SouthEssexBlade can bring tears to my eyes by reminding us what it would mean to win the FA cup, my version of supporting may be different to yours. Is it any less? No it is not just different. You see I want us to win every game. I do not see us as losing to Preston as a blessing in disguise.

Given our repeated less-than-successful attempts to find a striker in recent seasons with so many coming and going, it would be just about right for the one that works to have been a left-back a year ago.

We never did anything the easy way

If we were to win a cup then I agree, cup win over promotion every time.

But it just ain't going to happen! We're a league one club ffs! There are only so many times you can perform the giant killings before coming unstuck.

Slim chance may be but as each game comes along and a final gets nearer the belief grows, for the players as well as the fans. It is not as if we were lucky in our cup runs.(Maybe Fulham at home?).
At 2-1 up at Wembley after them just equalising who did not start to believe ?
At 2-1up against Spurs with Reed bearing down on goal who did not start to believe?
Bradford set the example getting there.we carried it on and others have followed from lower leagues, including Bradford again this season.Good luck to them today. After beating Chelsea they'll believe they can beat anyone. I so wanted it for us and no one will convince me after last years cup run especially that being out of the cup is an excuse to concentrate on the league because that worked last week against Gillingham. If people gain a crumb of comfort in that statement then good for them, I certainly do not.

The magic of Keith Hill . Gareth Bale started as a left back , so who knows what impact Done will have .

he's not though.. he seems to have an uncanny effect on the team that i simply can't put my finger on.. some people are like that..i think the fans sense it too.. it's a bit weird tbh

I struggle to believe that people would take a slim (very ) slim chance of winning a cup competition over years of
stagnation in the lower leagues , while I was proud as hell of standing cheering on the goals at wembley , can be seen on TV
right behind for the 3rd , not being able to keep onto our best players , after Uddersfield defeat , to until recently not being able to attract decent players , baffles me , promotion every time , when where higher up the leagues then go for the cups ,
Give me Burnley , Leicester , QPR away for the feeling of knowing we're up or staying up .
Then a couple of lines in the paper or tacked on to a TV slot about giant killing , our club is bigger than giant killings ,
not in a massive delusional way either .

This year we have a bigger squad granted , but last year not as much , Crewe away sticks out for me .
Relegation is never an option from any league , in my view .

oh well fuck the league then

Oh don't talk rubbish! Of course I would. Just don't say I'm disappointed to not be playing Man U. Couldn't give a flying fuck. At least I will be able to get a drink and go to the bog at half time, not have to queue up to get in while all the glory hunters stay at home and watch the premier league on TV. Big Blade me :)

Best stay in this league for you then eh. At least you'll be able to wipe your arse at half time coz there's enough bog roll. Lord help us if we start getting bigger crowds.
As said im a glory hunter. The kind who puts up with years of pain and still goes. Funny really, loads statethey dont want the Prem because it is not the true spirit of football. Well if giant killing in the cups is then the spirit is alive and well in clubs like us and others who have done it in recent years. Promotion is always aachievable at some point, to win a cup- well now that would be a tail to keep telling for the rest of our lives.
Good luck Bradford and Preston-in the cup not in the monotony of the league.
