I'm looking forward to next season as much as anyone.

But it did occur to me, say, for whatever reason we're languishing mid-table would there be performance related clauses in the contract?

Yes, if we aren't 20 points clear by Christmas he will get 30 lashes and be forced to carry his own crucifix up cemetery Road...

Who the hell knows what his contract terms are? All we know is he is our manager for 3 years on paper at least anyway.

With my extensive knowledge of SUFC management contracts I would say....

How the fuck would we know?

How long have you been watching the Blades? We don't do mid-table languish. We do excruciatingly close to promotion and we do screwed last game of the season and get relegated. We leave it to our piggy neighbours to do mid-table mediocrity.

Nice to see the air of positivity brought in by Adkins is spreading.

What if we go down? Will he deserve another two years to put it right?

FFS WILL SOMEONE GET POSITIVE. (Not having a go at you Will ;) just hijacking your thread)

I can't believe for the first time in years we have something to be hoober positive about and threads are dominated by Clough, if it goes wrong, is there isn't there a kitty, Jims body language, the board is split, HRH doubters .........

Come on, after me

You fill up my senses.........................

As in John Smith Magnet Pale Ale. That said, I think I'd prefer to consume a gallon of maggots to that muck.

I am looking forward to next season. Especially as I got our season tickets early :-)

It's more of a general question prompted by the three year contract.

Let's take it back to Cloughie:

Would it have been possible to include performance.targets in his contract eg If we finish outside the play-offs then we can sack you and you will only receive a proportion (or even zero) of the buy-out.

I've no idea if this is SOP or a criminal offence punishable by 100 years in jail under European law or somewhere inbetween.

It looks like no-one else on the forum does either so far, which is a bit of a surprise.

I don't think there would be anything unlawful to give a contract for, say one year, to be extended to two years if the club finishes 6th or higher. Whether we would get a decent manager on those terms is another matter.
