What is not said there is that in about December/January he again predicted we would be relegated “as we had a tendency to concede goals late in games” and drop points. I emailed him at the time pointing out that this was factually incorrect, apart from possibly the Manure game when we conceded 3 goals in 7 or was it 9 minutes from about 70 minutes. However we then scored late to salvage a point. He never replied!

Wherever we finish it will be a wonderful way to finish what has been a fantastic season. There's every reason to be optimistic, but certainly not arrogant. Of course there's room for improvement, but that applies to every team in this division. It's a never ending story of strengthening and improving, season after season, no sentiment just experienced judgement maintaining the standards we're coming to expect from our greatest manager and his equally superb assistant. As long as the Board provides Wilder with the resources necessary to improve in those positions that need improving, beyond that there's little else we can hope for....oh I suppose the occasional piece of silverware wouldn't look out of place, you know, one of those tall shiny things that say you were winners.
