Could we not go 3 4 2 1 instead of 352. More bodies in midfield to keep possession. Didsy and Fleck behind Brewster

Have we got the players to play a back four?

I thought that myself. But the positive aspects of our 5 have slowly but surely disappeared. The centre-backs aren’t overlapping anymore and our most effective player in that role is now injured.

Looking forward...

I know Ampadu isn’t left footed, but going off what I saw against leeds, he offers more going forward than Robinson.

To be honest the line-up is pinning a lot of hope that Ampadu will inject some creativity and life into the left hand side (looking at you Steven and Fleck) - I completely understand the view that Stevens could be benched for lowe, but for this particular game I would stick with Stevens.

Norwood - has to come back into the team, we need somebody who can switch play. He offers something that no other midfielder in the squad has and we are crying out for some creativity. So what if the odd pass misplaces we need to see forward passes.

Berge - He is fantastic on the ball but needs to carry the ball forward more, no better opportunity than against Fulham.

Burke - For me he is currently first choice on team sheet. Nightmare for defenders.

Brewster - Straight in. Give him freedom to drop deep and pick up the ball and lets see what the boy is made of.

Need points. Need Fleck to find form. Need more goals. Need more forward balls. Need to play without fear and a bit a luck wouldn’t hurt.

Keep the faith Blades.

What would be your lineup?
That would be my team - bang on👍

I would be amazed if he changed the team apart from Brewster coming in for McGoldrick.

No matter how shit Stevens seems to play he never gets dropped for a start.

Let’s go balls out! Remind everyone what we’re about!

Ramsdale
Bogle Egan Ampadu Lowe
Berge Norwood Fleck
Didzy
Brewster Burke

Let them have it!!

I don't want to see us panicking and changing shape too much, but we do need to find what made us so effective last year and tweak this side slightly. For me, I'd go...

.....,...................Ramsdale
Baldock Bashan Egan Ampadu Lowe
.........................Norwood
...........Berge.......................Fleck
................McBurnie.......Brewster

We're losing the midfield too much in games at the moment, so we need Fleck & Norwood back in there to steady the ship.
I've long advocated bringing in better, more mobile players with better ball carrying abilities in our midfield to elevate our game. However, the signing I expected us to make at RCM hasn't happened & we can't afford to keep persisting with Lundstram. Therefore let's get back some familiarity.

Harsh to drop Burke who has probably been one of our best players this season, but Fulham may sit a little bit deeper away at our place. With Berge and Fleck out wide I think we might stand a better chance of getting some balls into the box for McBurnie to attack. If things aren't working, bring Burke on to stretch the game late on.

Ampadu for J Robinson is an obvious one to me. The quality difference looks quite clear & I want our better players on the park regardless of the left foot / right foot balance. I'm sure it's something we can work around. We've conceded goals down Robinson's side too often now, he's fine as a stand in but Wilder's correct to identify he's not a Premier League level long term solution to the problem we have.
Enda Stevens is a player we all rate very highly, but since lockdown something's off. He just looks like he needs a break. Max Lowe took his chance at Burnley, so provided he's not training poorly he looks to have earned a shot.

That’s the midfield I want to see! 👍

Absolute must win game already this it will be crucial for the confidence of the team.

I'm working on the assumption that we're not signing a midfielder as Wilder seems more focused on replacing O'Connell. Maybe we'll get someone on loan.

If Didsy got injured then you could drop Burke in behind the front two.

I'd love to see us go for Todd Cantwell as he would be an exciting prospect and just what we need. Someone who'll actually keep the ball and run with it rather than playing hot potato everytime they get it.
I’m liking this for the ‘hot potato’ 🤣🤣

Please Santa,
I want Lowe to start,I want a more creative midfield,I want faster counter attacks with less faffing abaaat,I want more shots,I want someone with the balls to shoot on sight of goal and if the keeper parries I want tap ins from switched on runners.I want McBurnie to stop jogging and start running,I want Burke and Brewster to form a great partnership, when we get a free kick around the box I want Brewster to hit the fucker
I don’t care if he misses next time he might score but the threat will be ever present and last of all I want 40 points by season end.
And an orange and some nuts 👍🏻👍🏻😃⚔️

If we're not sending the centre backs forward as often then surely we could have that extra man in the 10 position instead.
Let's face it, if we're counting on Basham and Robinson to be among our biggest attacking threats, we might as well pack it in now

I think those last two signings will give them a big boost. Might take a bit longer to turn that into results, but maybe not.

I think Fulham will sit in as they did at Wolves and look to counter on us. As a result there won't be the green grass for Burke to run into, so for me Brewster comes straight in for him. I think this is a game for McBurnie to start and hopefully get the better of Hector in the centre of their defence.

I understand the calls for Norwood return but I think Sander plays rather safe in CM due to the lack of options breaking left & right of him. In the absence of a ready made JOC replacement I would shift Enda to LCB and give Lewis the chance to give us more energy on the left side as he showed promise against Burnley. Enda is familiar with that role which he played in the Championship several times.

I don't understand the absence of Bogle. Was he injured when we bought him? If he is now ready to play I think he is an option to replace Lunny on the right hand side and thus give Sander in CM pacy options to his right (Bogle, Gorgeous George & Bash) to create down that side.

We do need a firing Fleck on the left to supply that extra quality that Ozzy doesn't quite possess. But if CW/AK don't see it from him at training then Ben keeps the shirt.

Looking forward to Sander vs Loftus Cheek & Eags vs Mitrovic.
We need to win those battles, plus find the back of the net.....

Based on the players Wales have available for the upcoming internationals, unless Giggs unexpectedly switches to 3 at the back (which he hasn’t gone with for quite some time now), I’m expecting Ampadu to get quite a few minutes in midfield in these games. Could be good preparation for heading into our midfield for the Fulham game should we want to try it...

Ramsdale

Baldock (last chance before Bogle gets a game!)
Basham
Egan
Stevens (undeserving but better than Robinson)
Lowe

Lundstram
Norwood
Fleck
(Back to basics, get that rhythm back from last season - Berge on once we’ve got our rhythm)

Brewster
Mcburnie (lets actually get some service into him)

Subs:
Foderingham
Bogle
Ampadu
Berge
Osborn
Burke
Mcgoldrick

Possibly, idk. Our midfield has just felt a little disjointed and I think a return to the familiar set up for a game or two might help the wing backs out. Especially in a game where we really do need to attack & to win.

Doesn’t change the fact he’s still our best player & I really like him

When successful The system We currently employ creates chances by getting an overload in wide areas this means that wing backs and centre backs have to get forward.
In recent matches this has rarely happened and it is subsequently not so much a change of personnel but a change of mindset that needs to happen, brought about by confidence or indeed a change of luck. We created in the last ten minutes against arsenal as we got overloads, due in no small part to an increase in confidence due to pulling one back.
Last season we started off by pulling back a late equaliser against Bournemouth, if we would have converted some of the easier chances we have created this season, not only would we more than likely have a few more points but we ( team, management and players) would have more confidence.
But we do need changes to personnel
I would have
Ramsdale
BaldRick bash Egan Stevens Lowe
Berge
Empadu. fleck
Didzy

Brewster

With instructions for wing backs to get forward, the alternative to personnel would see Burke replacin Didzy up top .

All about opinions but I am sure I prefer CW and AK to be making them than any of us.

You can pick bits out of each of our previous games ( with the exception of Arsenal ) and found very valid excuses for why we did not pick up points.

Shape unlikely to change, personnel in the shape likely to.

"Ethan was a difficult decision [to leave out at Arsenal] for us.

"Max Lowe and Jayden Bogle are knocking on the door as well.

"Rhian has not played a lot of football, so we'll condition him and he will be involved. Whether he starts or not is a decision looking at him in the next 10 days."

Just in case we lose to Fulham

Wider is always conservative and stubborn in his approach to ream selection, so I think starters will not change much.
Burke has done everything asked of him apart from scoring. Ampadu has too much skill and composure to leave him out.
If Brewster is fit, he starts
Ampadu and Brewster to start, are the only changes I can see Wilder making. Where Ampadu starts will depend on how things go in training.
With both sides looking for a win, I can see Wilder sticking to those he trusts.

"Max Lowe and Jayden Bogle are knocking on the door as well."

Picks Baldock and Stevens against Fulham anyway. 🙄

--------------McBurnie-Brewster----------------

Summat different innit?

Enda’s not put a foot wrong when playing left centre back, I’d put him there and go with Lowe LWB, Norwood starts for me & also start Didsy after his goal at Arsenal, likely to score again v Fulham....
