Team Vs City

Over the years I've desperately suggested alternative formations myself. It's annoying when you see the team struggling and strongly feel a change could improve things.

But Wilder has stated he thinks the formation is ok and said the players just need to perform better within it. Previously he's said he sacrificed the number 10 for a so called flat midfield. McGoldrick said playing a number 10 behind two strikers would be "suicidal" at this level. We're searching for the right balance and haven't been far off in any of our games. Let's not lose hope yet.

This doesn't mean Wilder won't be looking to make tweaks; changes in personnel and roles, and for me he found a good midfield solution against Liverpool. For now I think Ampadu at DCM and Berge at RCM is worth persevering with. At LCM Lundstram's got the shirt, Osborn is an option and Fleck will return in a while. I see huge benefits, defensively and offensively, if we can keep that midfield.T

Not saying we won’t pick up any points from the upcoming games, but I do wonder how bad the situation would have to get before Wilder considers a change of system or formation. Previously he’s been quite bold and proactive in making adjustments when it’s not working for us (in terms of formation, system and personnel) eg. Switch to back five in Lge 1, changing to a flat midfield three in the Premier, no sentiment shown to players when we need to upgrade, quick to move players on who proved to be the wrong signings.
I do wonder why we are now apparently reluctant to change the formation or tweak the system when it’s not working for us. It may be true that player performance levels have dropped, but with some key figures missing through injury and confidence at a low there’s no guarantee that we’ll recapture the same levels as last season.
The fact we regularly get a 5 overload on the wing and still cross to the 1 outnumbed striker is the reason we do not score. If Wilder still can't see it's not working, how about more practice shooting from the corner of the box!

Rammo
Baldock Bash Egan Stevens Lowe
Berge Ampadu Ozzie
Didzy
Brewster
Mcburnie, Bogle, Robbo, Lunny, Verrips, Burke, Norwood

I’ve dropped lunny and opted for a more composed midfield. I’m hoping this will enable us to compete more in middle and help create more chance for Brewster instead of smashing it long for mcburnie.

Very close to my team. I agree with Lowe at LWB and Ben to take over from Lunny.

This really gives the left side pace & energy. That's my only change.

I'm not sure about dropping McB he did bully the L'pool CB's but maybe City will be stronger there?

So Lunny & Didzy off the bench for me.

I’d keep it unchanged tbh. I think if there’s a change to be had it would probably be Lowe in at LWB, but that would be a bit harsh on Osborn, or Lundstram were Osborn to move to LCM.

As others have already said, I think I’ll be happy with a lineup that keeps Ampadu in the middle of midfield and Berge RCM. With the exception of one with Bryan, Jags and Rodwell as the back three.

With the way they struggled against Mousset last season I'd be tempted to give Burke a go just for the pace.

Michael Oliver is the referee. CHECK WHETHER YOUR GL WATCH IS WORKING, MICHAEL, PLEASE.

Paul Tierney on VAR shouting down into Michael's headphone "pass it him"

Verrips over Moore ppft. Verrips has never made an appearance for us. Much rather have Moore. I won't read any team sheet unless Moore is on the bench.

Moore is still recovering from slicing one of his fingers off in the freak accident involving the knife he was using to open the boxes of goalkeeping kits at the superstore. With the recovery time for surgically reattaching a finger it’s unrealistic to see him on the bench any time soon. Verrips, with those novelty sized hands of his intact, is probably the better option of the two right now.
