The general consensus on the Doyle v Monty thread is that "It's not broken, so don't try to fix it" and I would agree in that case.
However, I do think there's room for improvement up front and hopefully Hoskins can give us something different.
The other question is whether JFL's confidence will have been shaken by the mauling he received against Birmingham.
I'd be tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt as Burke could just as easily have given Williams a going over.

Team v Wycombe:-
Simonsen
Lowton Maguire Collins Lescinel
Williamson Doyle MacDonald Quinn
Evans Hoskins
Subs:- Long, Ertl, Flynn, Creswell, Porter

No room on the bench for Monty or Williams as we need more attacking options available at home and Ertl can cover both defence and central midfield.

I think we'll be unchanged again. While I'm sure Hoskins will start when he's established DW said he'd have to wait for his chance. We are limited in our options off the bench up front that can actually help change a game if things aren't working - Hoskins will no doubt be an attractive option for this role for the time-being.

I don't think Hoskins will start - as Danny Wilson has been very reticent about changing the team unless absolutely necessary I'd expect it to be the same side as started the Birmingham game unless someone picks up an injury. I would expect Hoskins to be on the bench though, to be introduced around the hour mark.

Cresswell Evans

So far Wilson has prefered a target man/goalgetter mix up front. If he sticks to that it will be Evans to make way if Hoskins gets picked.

I would like to see porter blink out of existance....
On a serious note I think that 2 strikers on a 5 man sub bench with a keeper is to many.
The team wont change but I would rather our bench look like this:
Long, Ertl, Flynn, Hoskins, Monty

I would go with a 5 outfield player bench and risk that Simmo didnt get sent off or injured.

He should start on the bench. We have not played for weeks and injuries not withstanding, everyone should be fresh. I would think Wilson sees we have enough to beat Wycombe without Hopkins starting. Dropping Cressy would be very harsh. I foresee a 68th Min sub, Hopkins on for Cresswell at 3-0.

The mega blades.

Yet he had the talent to do it. We had not. It was the one moment of quality amidst a sea of mediocrity. The first of our three abject surrenders in play-off finals.

Just like Twaddles free kick at Wembley it was a "someone get in front of the ball" moment

You don't think that THAT united team with fjortoftHutchison spackman had enough talent to score a fluke from outside the.box ?

If I remember correctly, the highlight of the game from a United perspective was Lee Sandford, on as a sub, running down the left wing and winning a corner from a near post cross.

That's it. That's the sum total of the times when United looked like they might create a chance that afternoon. Not that they might score. Just that they might create a chance.

Palace were just as bad. There was no memorable incident in the entire game until the last 30 seconds. It was like the opposite of the Ipswich away game the week before.

It wasn't a fluke.

On the day we displayed no talent at all.

Hutchison flattered to deceive - he was a goalscoring midfielder with all his many clubs, except of course...

Spackman was rubbish for us as a player. Gordon Cowans was infinitely more effective and should have been offered another year.

"enough talent to score a fluke" is something of a contradiction in terms, isn't it?

Hoskins is a football player. Should fit in nicely ...... if he's fit i would play him.

Howard
Lowton Maguire Collins Lescinel
Williamson Doyle MacDonald Flynn
Evans Hoskins

Subs: Long Quinn Cresswell Ertl Porter

As far as I understand it Simmo is fit and Howard is only on trial so can't play.

Is Flynn now fit?
