Can we get back to back wins? Can we put a run together and at least go down fighting?

Is it time to start Verrips and give Ramsdale a rest and let him fight his way back into contention?

Hackford from the bench?

Verrips

Bogle Basham Egan Ampadu Osborn

Lundstram Norwood Fleck

Didzy
Burke

Ramsdale
Bogle - Bash - Egan - Bryan - Osborn
Lundstram - Norwood - Fleck
Brewster - Burke

Even though I don't want it, feel like Brewster not coming on and Didzy playing a full 90 says Brewster's starting. Feel like we're walking a very fine line with Didzy at the moment, just asking for him to get injured. A 33 year old with previous injuries shouldn't be starting so many games in such a short period.

As painful as it is watching papadum hands every week, he’ll continue to keep his place because we simply won’t give Verrips a chance.

The rest of the team is hardly difficult to pick, other than a decision to be made at LCB:

Bogle, Basham, Egan, Bryan, Osborn

Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck

McGoldrick, Burke

I’d much rather us have a better option at RCM, but unfortunately we’re short and regrettably reliant on Lundstram filling in. Pretty similar across the midfield, as we have absolutely nobody to step in and stake a claim.

Didzy has been our best player for quite a while in my opinion, so keeps his place. Burke’s cameo today and glimpses in other games puts him ahead of Brewster.

And yet you put Brewster to start?

We already look like a set of wallies by having a £24m striker on the bench, we don't need to compound the issue by putting an £18m Keeper on there with him.

No hands is playing because his price tag dictates it.

I honestly wouldn’t even know where to go after Egan, Basham, McGoldrick.

Everyone else’s positions are up for grabs on a weekly basis as far as I’m concerned. Although dropping Ramsdale isn’t ever going to happen.

Any blade that labels one of our players with a derogatory nickname is a bellend, plain and simple.

Sorry, ‘Bigger Blade’, you’re the one using derogatory names.

I’m not on any, but thanks for your concern. Enjoy the rest of your evening. 😊

Pick the same team that just won a game!
The question is, where do we play Ampadu? By my reckoning we've tried him at LCB, RCB, CB, RM, CM, LM and he's been crap at them all. So unless we try him in goal that only leaves wingback or upfront. Although for me his best position would be back at Chelsea.

Moose, Baldock and Stevens reportedly struggling to be fit in time.

Bryan in for Ampadu, Burke in for Moose, the rest unchanged.

Stevens doesn't deserve a place in the side whether he's fit or not, Bogle offers far more attacking threat than Baldock, Burke should replace Mousset regardless of the latter's fitness. So those injury concerns don't make much difference. Drop Ampadu because he's genuinely worse at football than Kean Bryan.

We started really brightly yesterday and got the goal. Then had a really bad spell after we scored where we just lumped the ball. It wasn’t until after they equalised that we started playing football again.
For a team that’s confidence must be totally shot I wasn’t expecting too much. But I was happy with the performance of a fair few players and actually enjoyed the game. Bogle, Osborn, Didzy, Mousse and Burke played well. Lunny, Norwood and Fleck had some decent moments if still not at their best yet. And Ampadu wasn’t as bad as some are making out.
I’m concerned however about our formation. It’s failing, it’s tiresome, it’s broken. We had overlapping CB’s, it was innovative and exciting. We don’t have overlapping CB’s now so it’s just a bog standard 5-3-2 and it fails to create chances. Chances that become nonexistent when we revert to long balls down the channels aimed at no one in particular.
Bash is looking increasingly ropey at the back and his attacking threat is nullified, the opposition know it’s coming due to there being nothing on offer down the left.
So what is the solution? Personally I would’ve tried a back four against Bristol Rovers. I always harp on about a 4-3-3 but instead aim going 4-4-2

I don't disagree with this. I'm just conscious that we've done a lot of chopping and changing.

Yes, you try to find the right formula, but seldom do players just thrown together hit it off immediately. I suppose there is a fine balance between sticking with something that isn't working and giving something a chance to work.

Having slept on this, I'd be more than happy to set up with Burke and McGoldrick as the front two for some time and accept their limitations.

Burke is not the best finisher but it is hard to deny that his raw pace does pose a danger to even the best of defences. Behind him, McGoldrick is probably the best schemer we have. He's getting on but this isn't showing in his performances, he's more tricky than someone who relies on pace and he is top scorer despite him taking a while to break his duck last term. He's probably my favorite United player right now. He's just a joy to watch.

I also think we need continuity. Mousset can be a very good impact sub but he can't be relied upon with his fitness presently to be part of the regular starting plan. McBurnie has reinvented himself as a target man really but I'll be honest, that's not how I want us to play. He's started to show more aggression and can be a decent alternative but I think I like the idea of pace from the off and perhaps Mousset and McBurnie with McGoldrick behind when the game is aging would be a good plan B.

I've not even mentioned Billy, who I think would be ok in 3-4-1-2 in front of McGoldrick, where he got 24 in the Championship while McGoldrick was notching 15 but alongside Burke who's pace would create space for Billy.

I really don't see what Brewster adds right now. Though it would be an admission of failure, as a player he'd probably develop better on loan at Swansea again and playing every week than having a dice rolled on whether he'd get on or not.

Ampadu is a real conundrum. We seem to have got sucked in with the actual 'thought' of Ampadu being this incredible age defying prospect rather than his current ability level and usefulness to us. If you are not signing a midfielder permanently then brokering a move for someone with a proven record you'd otherwise not afford but who is out of favour like Lindgard would have been better. Ampadu smacks me of. Sloan signing for a decent Championship club, not one to kick on a team finishing 9th.

For all the in joke of Bryan never playing and being more famous for his partner, he is at least our player. He isn't slow, he's decent on the ball, quite tall but probably lacks some positional sense which he's only going to improve upon by playing. You could possibly toss a coin on the pair in terms of how reliably they will fill in for JOC but right now I see Ampadu in one of two roles - being sent back to Chelsea to go on loan elsewhere or Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none sub for when you want to move Basham or Norwood tires etc.

I think you are stuck with Lunny until you secure a good enough incoming loan. I don't see anyone coming in with enough money to make it worthwhile being a further midfielder short though Rangers losing Airfield maybe makes them consider bringing a bid forward.

Very long way of saying if we don't go with the old adage of not changing a winning team then I'm with you 😁

When are the 10 day covid bans up for some of the lads, will they be available to play, or fit enough

Well...maybe.

osborn is a much better option at LB

To get a result I can’t see how any of Ampadu, Fleck and Norwood can start on current form. Assuming 3-5-2 is starting formation as it always is then I would radically change the midfield to offer more mobility when defending the ball and attacking intent with the ball. I would start subject to fitness:

Ramsdale
Baldock, Basham, Egan, Stevens, Osborne
Bogle, Lundstram, McGoldrick
Burke, Brewster

McGoldrick whilst right footed is defensively sound and has more creativity and mobility than Fleck and with the pace of Osborn and Burke can cause real problems down the LHS. Whilst Lunny clearly hasn’t scaled the heights of last season he is at present better than Amps/Norwood and has a good engine and would in my view be a better fit in CDM with Berge injured. Bogle, Baldock, Lunny and Brewster can cause problems down RHS.

So just when we’ve achieved our first win, we drop our keeper?

When you word it like that, I take your point. Not specifically the cup performance but over the course of the season he’s not been up to standard. Not saying he’s awful, not saying his signing was a mistake. He’s certainly not undroppable though is he?

He’s not been at the top of his game. But he really has been let down by the eleven players in front of him.
Whereas Henderson used to play behind a team full of confidence, style and an ability to keep the ball and drive forward with it.....Sadly Ramsdale has not enjoyed such a luxury. At times this season our goal really has laid been under siege.
