Get him signed.

No, didn't see either of the five games he played. Read that he got an injury just after arriving, and I think Stabæk wanted him to play as a defensive midfielder, which may possibly explain why he struggled.

McKinlay was sacked three weeks ago. It was always going to be difficult for him to replace the excellent Bob Bradley who worked wonders there.

The Premier League bound Bradley, I believe. Good manager and coach.

Davey could be an interesting one, 21 is the right sort of age to get a player from a top PL academy, at L1 level they can come in, establish themselves pretty quickly and potentially become big assets.

I agree that far too many young players like him don't play anywhere near enough games early in their careers. The difference between playing 20 games and playing 100 games by the age of 21 could often be the difference between being L1 standard and being PL standard. Obviously it's not good for the national team.

thats him played at scunthorpe on loan season before last as well

Which previous manager did this fannying around in pre-season.

We've argued before what pre-season is about,is it just for getting players fit, trying new systems and things out,or this close to the start of the new season should you be using
the team what you want to start with and getting them to bed in together.

It's crazy that players get to 21 years old and only have played 20 odd professional matches. Some of youngsters are approaching 100 appearances at that age.

Thank the Premiership for that along with the utter ruination of football as a sport. He should have 100 plus games at lower league level with clubs who own him rather than being farmed out as a Premiership 8th choice.

LEON LEON LEON! I love this guy as soon as he signed! Just got that air of arrogance that all top forwards have! He's really gonna be an asset this season!

anyone know who this gordon player is who came on for clarke

How much better and classy does that kit look with white socks?

Thakes me back to 11/12 when we were destroying this division.

I had the ticket for tonight but didn't go as it dawned on me that I would be spending 2 hours stood in Worksop, and it would be a train journey there and back.

Did Clarke crack a smile when he scored or is it still a bit too early in the relationship?

Good attitude from the team tonight, played at a good tempo throughout, no one coasted, and scored some good goals.

Stand outs, in spells Scougall & Coutts, and in the second half David Brooks showed real quality, the lad has a great left foot, good balance, and vision.

Clarke could have had 3 or 4, and ended scoring a cracker, after a quick one two with Scougall.

Trialists Alex Davey not good enough, doubt we'll see him again, weak, and basic errors.

Echo what you say Treeton. Excellent workout for us tonight and credit where due Handsworth had real spirit and commitment. Great crowd of 1561 who certainly got there monies worth. Personally I thought Wallace had a good first half along with Sparky. Clarke grew into the game and the build up for his goal was superb. Scougs and Coutts both had excellent 90 minutes and despite the quality of the opposition I'm growing more confident of the back up squad and enjoying the system we are playing. Agree about the lad Davey. Unfortunately doesn't look good enough. 2 special mentions. Che buckled down and didn't look like the speculation was affecting him and secondly the young lad Brooks. No pressure on the lad but he genuinely looks like he could be a real find. I'm sure he will get a fair few chances as the season progresses. Confident and comfortable on the ball he certainly believes in himself.
Thoroughly enjoyable night

If any one is sandy lane tonight keep an eye out on their number 6 for me, Gaz Griffiths, played with him elsewhere. Great player. Great lad and a blade, will be loving it tonight
He was better than Jake Wright

Out of interest Treeton, what was the referee like tonight?

I watched the first half of the game tonight, while standing in between the two benches, before moving to a different position in the second half. Cant tell you how impressed and refreshing it was to witness such a passionate Blades manager on the sideline, as CW was tonight, after having to put with last seasons plastic, waffling, useless excuse of a manager.
He never stopped throughout the game, shouting encouragement, instructions and tearing a strip off the players when necessary. The most noticeable thing was his constant desire for the ball to be moved quicker. He was constantly shouting "QUICKER, QUICKER" throughout the half. My favourite moment was when after about ten passes of the ball we eventually reached the edge of their penalty box. Despite retaining possession at this point, CW launched his water bottle to the floor in frustration at slow the build up had been.
He was constantly on at K.Wallace for coming inside looking for the ball, instead of staying out wide and making forward runs. He probably suffered as he was directly at the side of CW in the first half. Reed was the other main subject of his attentions, although he was also getting at Adams for not tracking back. I was impressed by Clarke and thought Freeman also did well. Couldn't really judge the lad from Chelsea or Long's performance as they were not really tested.
One of the fans asked CW about Morsy, however I'll update the relevant rumour thread with his response.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening. .

Ah, now I remember him. He had a very poor game, but then so did the rest of their defence. Given our back four were solid, Sammon was excellent, and James Wallace played a few minutes, perhaps we should just ignore everything that happened in that game as a freak of nature.
