Team Selection Re-Think

Any tactical change will have to accommodate two up front and Carruthers.

4-4-2 diamond seems most likely but that wouldn't necessarily be too ideal for Hanson.

4-2-3-1 means Billy on his own where he'd struggle or dropping him for Hanson, which won't happen.

A straight 4-4-2 would negate Duffy and Coutts, and that would be stupid.

The best thing we can probably do is stick with 3-5-2, get Wright back in, hope Riley offers more out wide and get Hanson up front with Sharp. Rotate Carruthers with Coutts and Duffy.

Coutts does need to start doing more again. He's not had the same impact in the last 2 months or so, especially away from home.

He needs to drive forward far more. He's got plenty of ability and even a burst of acceleration as well as strength to hold off a challenge. I have no idea why he doesn't sell a dummy and drive into space when he has the chance. It should be easy for him.

It would be nice if he realised that he has defensive responsibility too. He seems to have forgot.

^^^^ This. Absolutely spot on. He's strolling through much of the game and him and Fleck are dropping so deep there's a gaping hole in midfield which teams are exploiting. Coutts appears to have gone back to last seasons idea of playing an easy ball rather than take any real risk pushing forward. Said the other day he's reminding me of Baxter with the long showboating passes out to the opposite side of the pitch rather than press forward. Admittedly he had McNulty idling up front but it's not just the Fleetwood game.

only have to look at last seasons automatically promoted side Burton to see you get wobbles
won only 3 of 13 games in this period , still went up losing 4 and drawing 6 in this run
only 15 points out of 39
22 February 2016 game 31 Southend United 3 - 1 Burton Albion
27 February 2016 32 Burton Albion 0 - 0 Walsall
1 March 2016 33 Sheffield United 0 - 1 Burton Albion
5 March 2016 34 Crewe Alexandra 1 - 1 Burton Albion
8 March 2016 35 Bradford City 2 - 0 Burton Albion
12 March 2016 36 Burton Albion 2 - 1 Fleetwood Town
19 March 2016 37 Port Vale 0 - 4 Burton Albion
26 March 2016 38 Burton Albion 0 - 0 Oldham Athletic
28 March 2016 39 Millwall 2 - 0 Burton Albion
2 April 2016 40 Burton Albion 1 - 1 Bury
9 April 2016 41 Scunthorpe United 1 - 0 Burton Albion
16 April 2016 42 Burton Albion 0 - 0 Barnsley
19 April 2016 43 Burton Albion 1 - 1 Wigan Athletic
though disappointing , a 3 game blip shouldnt cause too much panic

Have ever thought about playing FM2017? At least the consequences of doing that only affect the virtual world. ;)

Riley will get his chance once he's recovered fully from injury. Carruthers likewise. I think Hanson will play a major part in the rest of the season. Dropping both Coutts and Duffy is a ridiculous statement to make.
I can see Wilder mixing the pack a bit but to pull 2 of the 3 midfielders out in one go is too drastic.

Jake Wright needs to come in before anything else

Nay lad,i leave that stuff to the kiddies.

Last time i played wi mi sen it was Toca Touring Cars and Tekken.:)

Am I the only one that thought Lafferty performed pretty well before he was subbed on Tuesday? Maybe I'm mad because I can see his average rating is down at 4 point something on here...

Not up to his "pre injury form", but hoping he gets back to that with game time.
