This might make you sit up and throw a wobbly.

Wilder needs to take drastic action for the next game,we have become ponderous and predictable in our play.

Duffy and Coutts are now slowing our play down way too much in midfield............DROP em.

Bring in O'Shea and Carruthers for them, and play Hanson alongside Sharp.

I would also look to include Riley in Lafferty's place.

And god almighty what a duckegg defence we have, stuck with it now i suppose,if we had the big lads who Fleetwood had at the back i would be much more relaxed, they did not put a foot wrong and i dont even know what their names are.

This next game against AFC-W is pivotal, lose it and we will NOT get promoted, how would you expect a Utd team to lift itself for the tough games coming up in Feb,wont happen.

Agree with all of that bar perhaps the last paragraph, simply due to the number of games left. Wider can (I think)address the flatness with the players he has signed this month. The defence however is now reliant on Wright doing what he did last time, which I think he will by the way.

Other than that, maybe just maybe we could be in for another CB.I know Wilder said we were now done & dusted but I recall similar messages in the summer before additional players came in.

Should have signed some proper wingers.
Build up to slow and predictable, we are relying on Duffy to much, no pace in the side.
Missing Chapman badly I'm afraid.
McNulty and Scougall shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team squad simply not good enough.
I'm guessing that's our transfer business done now, so I'm hoping Carruthers and O'Shea can help take some of the pressure of Duffy. Also hope we still have Chapman and he will be back soon.

Not sure how anyone can conclude from last night that Coutts was to blame for anything. Only he and Fleck looked anything like professional footballers.

By the way, this is coming from me who supposedly "hates" Coutts. So much for my 'agendas' eh?

My law is 4 poor results constitutes as a "blip". Any more and you are in the "totally collapsed" territory

Don't agree with the "if we lost against Wimbledon we won't be promoted". This is going to go to the wire, I expect more shock results, not just from us either.

UTB
Can you see us turning things around in February,if we do lose to AFC,the players confidence will shot along with the fans expectation, and ya know what happens down at the Lane when the fans get restless and witness a god almighty fuckup.

Some good points and I agree with most of it but I'm not sure about the above. There just aren't many of them in the modern game.

In the Prem in recent years, I can only think of Roben and Giggs as people who played wide up front for most of their career. Most of the others seem to morph into wing backs and get used to strengthen midfield. It can't be long before teams all move to a 2-7-1 type formation (with 'inner' wingbacks and 'outer' wingbacks).

Not just based on last nites performance alone, too much side to side shit no one dares to be more direct and have a drive thru the centre,Duffy and Coutts both do this too much.

Is three poor results a "mini-blip" then?

I understand and share the worry, but we all collectively need to relax a bit. Long way to go and still in a great position. I think having this weekend off is the best thing for the squad, let them regroup and rebuild.

Coutts does need to start doing more again. He's not had the same impact in the last 2 months or so, especially away from home.

He needs to drive forward far more. He's got plenty of ability and even a burst of acceleration as well as strength to hold off a challenge. I have no idea why he doesn't sell a dummy and drive into space when he has the chance. It should be easy for him.

It would be nice if he realised that he has defensive responsibility too. He seems to have forgot.

Lavery for me does gets some credit.

I agree to an extent. Duffy especially pissed me off last night, constantly trying to beat every fucker when a simple forward pass or through ball would have sufficed, not to mention his constantly shite long-distance shooting.
Coutts was often bogged down in trying to correct everyone elses mistakes and awful decision making though in fairness.

We had a winning formula that took us from the bottom of the League to the top.
The winning formula was tinkered with
We stopped winning
Logical solution: return to tried and tested winning formula

Duffy needs to be dropped. Everytime he had the ball, he went onto his right foot. EVERY TIME. we need someone who is unpredictable, goes to his left, goes to his right, making it difficult to guess. duffy is piss easy to read. i've loved him this season, but he had a shocker last night. guess fleetwood knew that he was going to go on his right foot everytime

interesting point regards Duffy's constant attempt at Worldy's. When teams parked the bus a month or so back he seemed reluctant to take a shot on, instead always looking for that killer pass. He took a bit of flack and he has since shed his shooting nerves.

I, erm, prefer the old Duffy!

That and the fact that we don't play 4-4-2 negates the need for a winger. If we had a winger in his fancy boots with his skins and gloves on at wing-back and said player shirked a challenge there would be an uproar. Pace is what we lack and you can have that all over the pitch, not just on the wing. I'm pretty sure O'Shea and Hanson don't have pace, Riley might have. Some pace at the back would also be nice but not in a Nyron Nosworthy way.

Duffy can't shoot from outside the box. They're always weak efforts that go over the bar. That's one area where O'Shea might be useful - running towards the box looking to shoot he'll actually have a chance of scoring.

Thats what infuriates me with Duffy (and is what i call him slowing things down) he was doing it on Sat too.

I'm starting to think with the players that Wilder has brought in that a formation change might be on the cards.
I don't think he's brought Hanson and O'Shea in to be bit part players and making impacts from the bench.
Maybe a change to 442
Freeman, Landell, O'Connell, Lafferty
Duffy, Carruthers, Fleck, O'Shea
Sharp, Hanson

That would seem to suit some of our new signings.

Fleck is the only one to come out of the other day with any credit for me.

Am I the only one that thought Lafferty performed pretty well before he was subbed on Tuesday? Maybe I'm mad because I can see his average rating is down at 4 point something on here...

Have ever thought about playing FM2017? At least the consequences of doing that only affect the virtual world. ;)

Riley will get his chance once he's recovered fully from injury. Carruthers likewise. I think Hanson will play a major part in the rest of the season. Dropping both Coutts and Duffy is a ridiculous statement to make.
I can see Wilder mixing the pack a bit but to pull 2 of the 3 midfielders out in one go is too drastic.

Jake Wright needs to come in before anything else

Don't read too much into the ratings on here. If we lose EVERYBODY was wank.

Looks to me like Wilder has signed players who will suit 442 as well maybe O' Shea on the right and Lavery on the left but otherwise that was the team I was thinking as well.

I think his preferred formation is 4231 but being a bit old school, I do like the above. Billy's happy to drop deep when needed or work the flanks and both wide players can go wide or cut in so we could still have interchange and movement, it doesn't have to be leathering it at Hanson

yes think you may be right there metal and if as some have suggested on this site teams have sussed our style and formation could be a smart move by chris certainly if he plays hanson up top with billy can see us going 4 4 2

Drop Coutts and Duffy, Scougall clearly not good enough, get a grip jesus christ.
Love it how just because we're on a blip we need to change the system and the players who are top of the league and on track for the title.
Just because we haven't seen the new signings lose a game for us yet doesn't make them the answer. (Same can be said for Wright to a lesser extent).
