Would someone please tell Micky Adams, his coaching staff and everyone surrounding the club that we get points for winning games and not for having the youngest squad in the league. Whilst I am pleased about the academy and that we are looking to the furture by signing young players the last time I looked we were 1 point above relegation and in the fight of our lives.
We are leaking goals like the titanic leaked water in 1908 and we bring in 3 defenders under 21. We are crying out for experience and we get kids. In the last home game we had 4 academy players on the bench. Perhaps Tricky Micky fancies himself as a bit of an Arsene Wenger, but personally I'd be more interested in amassing 45 points to survive.
Is there some rule that I have overlooked. Will we get extra points for having an average squad age of under 20? Is there something similar to the fair play award that will save us. Perhaps Micky Adams is one step ahead of Dougie Freedman and our youth team will pull us out of trouble on a technicaility. Hmmm.
Or perhaps Micky and Trev have a grand plan. Our team of kids will be sure to get us ot of League One next year. They'll run the likes of Charlton, Southampton and Huddersfield ragged. This year will be an experience, but next year we'll run wild.Mind you, they are young, so how about the season after that. Yes, that's it: we'll run away with League 2 in 2013/2014, then get back to back promotions and find ourselves in the Premier League. Micky will do a Harry. Just imagine the likes of Slew, Lowton, these 3 new defenders, the 7 academy youths Pemberton talked about in 2 or 3 years time. We'll get a record points tally in League 2.
Personally I'd sooner stay up. Bring in experience and beat the drop. But Tricky Trev and Tricky Micky clearly have a plan and I'm righ behind them. My (blind) faith is with them all the way. No questions. Premiership by 2017, that fits into our plans doesn't it?
