Team next season

We need to look at players that can give us a bit more of a physical edge. Both in terms of strength and pace. The sort of players I would be looking at:-

Federico Bessone (Leeds) - Currently on loan at Charlton. Has looked a tidy and competent full back when I've seen him, might be worth a look.

Gareth McAuley (Ipswich) - Big experienced centre half. Our of contract at the end of the season I believe.

Yannick Bolasie (Plymouth) - Seems to pop up with the odd goal and could give us another option in midfield. With Argyle going down they'll have to cash in.

Kieran Djilali (Crystal Palace) - Seems to have done well for Chesterfield and has a bit of pace. Again, he's affordable and would give us something we're missing.

Alan Lee (Huddersfield) - As I'm sure I'll be reminded he's getting on a bit, but with his experience and presence he is a viable/affordable alternative to Henderson.

Rory Fallon (Plymouth) - Seasoned third tier player with strength and good experience. We'll need players who know that league inside and out. He's one of them.

Theo Robinson (Millwall) - I thought he looked lively when he played at the lane on loan at Derby. Strong and quick and seemingly out of favour at his parent club.

simmonsen has got to go for me

I think that we have bigger problems than replacing Simmo at the moment, I agree he has been poor this season and has cost us points that could well have kept us in the division but I still think that with confidence he is a good keeper. The shocking defence in front of him this season that has never been a regular back four has to be taken into consideration. I don't think that he has confidence in the 4 in front of him and vice versa. I stand to be corrected but from what I remember lots of Blades wanted us to sign Simmo last season as soon as possible and during his spell at Bramall Lane last season lots said he was better than Kenny.

I will put my self on the line and say if we had Kenny in the net this season, we would still have been relegated. A keeper doesn't suddenly become poor over night and given the chance next season with a regular back four I think he will prove us wrong. Does anyone have an idea on his wages? Is he one of the higher earners?

Do most people get the impression that Ward will be shipped out during the summer? I think SteelCityBlades shout of Alan Lee could be a good one. Knows the level and will know what is expected of him.

Ward will definitely be shipped out this summer. He won't want to play in league 1, Adams doesn't like him, and he's one of the players we might get some money for.

I'd say it's a double egded sword there though the defense were poor yes and maybe it knocked Simmo, but I'd also say the defenders had no confidence in him too and maybe even worried about him being there at times, his inablilty to collect simple balls would have made me panic as a centre half, also his inability to command the box is rather frustrating for a keeper as experienced as him. I'd say it's a spot that certainly needs adding to if not improving.

We've been linked with Chris Porter (albeit a tabloid link). Perhaps a swap deal?

Same thing entered my mind when I saw this over in rumour mill.

Porter the lad who just scored 3 of the 4 for Derby against our reserves?

Not really seen him to comment on though.

I'd be looking at Mcallister being a regular next season

a man with sense.

i wouldnt start with any loan players if we could help it.

North of the Border - Inverness have just announced 10 first teamers can leave - currently 3-1 up on Celtic - and the 103 goals in 225 game enigma that is Derek Riordan is also available on a free.
