Lowe from Bury is about 32 I believe. As well as he's been doing for them I think United need to be looking at a different sort of player. I certainly hope they wouldnt spend 300k on him!

I doubt Chesterfield would sell any players to us at the moment and you wont sign Le Fondre for any less than 500k I dont think. Rotherham will want a decent sum for him. I dont see Mattock and Riise coming back to play in the third tier either.

In regard to our current personnel you're probably not far off though. It would be nice to think we could keep Henderson as he would fill his boots in that league (with goals not red cards before anyone jumps in) but sadly I think he may move on.

We can all speculate forever and a day about what the team will be but I doubt any of us would come close to what we'll end up with come August. The first thing is finding out who will be in charge. If it is to be Micky then I'm sure he'll have his own ideas.

Apparently Lowry and Mattock have both said they want to join us in the summer, i just hope the Board has the bottle to go for them both. Riise didnt look interested on saturday, and he won't drop to league 1. I'd rather see a team looking like this:

Agree that if Ched goes to Norwich that United should try and bring Cody McDonald in. Norwich signed Simeon Jackson from the Gills last year and look how that has worked out. Got to be worth a shot.

I can't see Riise coming back but didn't Mattock make noises about coming to us permanently? He's not really shown much although I think he improved as we ended the season. I think Mattock could be a realistic shot on loan (would be a sensible one - one or two are fine, reliance is not) and I'm sure Adams mentioned that Lowry was with a view to a permanent deal. I don't think Lowry has been much to blame and in League 1 where he is against less skill, it would be a good place to gain experience. If we had Morgan, Lowry and Maguire for CB next season, I'd be happy.

In my opinion, I'd like to see us build a solid 13-15 man squad without Youth Cup and Development players and then rely on them for the rest. Maguire, McAllister and Slew are already in the squad and the likes of Ironside, Whitehouse, Harriott, Kennedy and Long should be involved next season from what I have seen. Others may suggest other youngsters (i.e McFadzean) too.

Le Fondre for 250k?? Not a chance IMO. He'll go to Championship. I'd rather see Tommy Lee from Chesterfield in goal too.

After what KM said at last close seasons fans forum regards making the mistake of having too many loans and then proceeds to allow the same mistake to be repeated. The board better not do the same again ffs!

There'll be some old heads and one or two we haven't heard from prem reserve teams. Just hope we sign a bit of pace.

There'll be Morgs, because he's apparantly not expected to be fit for another 6 months, so we can't actually sell him............just yet that is.

I would hope Morgs, Quinn, Willo and Hendo could remain, but fear 3 out of the 4 will be gone at the first whiff of a fee.

Evans (injury permitting) and Monty are already gone if rumours are to be believed.

Out of last season's loans, I would personally only be interested in Lowry and Riise. I cannot see for the life of me tho how we can afford to bring Riise in.

I wouldn't personally sign Mattock. Makes too many unforced errors for me, but fear we'll stick Taylor back in when fit.

I think it's fair to say, we have a tough few seasons ahead to look forward to

i agree, it could be argued that chesterfield are in a better position than us right now and there's a fair chance they'll finish above us next season so i'm not sure if any chezzy players would fancy the switch

yeh but tommy lee is playing under an ex porker and for a much smaller, if better run team.
the potential at chesterfield is not a 5th as large as SUFC, and as a not so massive club, but still bigger than bent church boys it has to be tempting, same goes for AlF.

LB: Taylor (I), Roe, Warren (?) Reserve watchers - do Roe or Warren look like they could make the step up?
RB: Lowton, Conneely, Brown - think we're fairly well covered at right back; seems the one position where we can reliably produce good youngsters!
CB: Morgan (I), Collins, Maguire, Kennedy - Lowton could also step in. We may need one more centre back depending on how Morgan's recovery goes.

LM: Quinn, Gardos, Tonne - If Quinn leaves we'll be short on proven players. This could leave us really weak down the left given our problems at left back.
RM: Yeates (?) - real weakness. I'd have to say we should put Williamson out here as Yeates will probably be leaving.
CM: Montgomery (?), Williamson, Doyle, McAllister, Lokberg, Harriot - I expect Monty will leave to Leeds to lead their promotion charge next year (!). Given that Doyle will be seen as necessary to provide the bite, that leaves McAllister and Williamson with Harriot and Whitehouse as backup. I don't agree with Doyle playing and don't see it as a surprise that we've picked up a lot more points since he started warming the bench.

CF: Henderson, Slew, Bogdanovic, Evans (?), Philliskirk - I expect Evans will leave, hopefully Norwich will consider him worth a punt for the Premiership. Philliskirk could be the surprise package; I would shed no tears whatsoever if Bogdanovic never played another game for us. We'd need to either find a gem in the youths (no-one's been scoring hatfuls) or look at getting someone like Ravel Morrison of Man U in on loan.

For instance, the team above appears to lack a bit of natural width so we could do with signing at least one winger (preferably with decent pace). It also seems to be crying out for a big man up front that can hold up the ball and be an aerial threat, which we will need at that level! I expect Henderson and Evans to have moved on come August and possibly even Cresswell. Looking at the above we could also use an extra centre half with a bit of experience at that level, along with an experienced keeper to command our area.

I think that team would get murdered in league one, mainly due to the lack of experience and physicality up front and in centre midfield. I know you said it's based on the bare bones of what could happen, but it's scary reading.

If you're assuming Hendo is going, we will have to get someone else in, otherwise I imagine it'll be Slew and Cresswell, just for the physical presense.

Harriot is a skillful ball player, but a midfield of him and McAllister looks very lightweight. If we are to assume Monty is gone, then I'm afraid Doyle will have to play centre mid, and I'm his biggest critic. The left side looks awfully problematic as well, we have to hope Quinny will stay. My guess would be something like:
