John Fleck can’t even be beaten in training. Joking aside, he is almost living up to that “once in a generation” tag he was given at Rangers, albeit 10 years after the fact. He is having an unreal season and would not look out of place in a Champions League side.

Speaking the way they do isn't really a sign of intelligence- I know a few lads studying to be doctors that speak just like that- cleverer lads than me (though they tone it down in front of patients).
Do seem like a pair of dafties, but good natured enough. I quite enjoyed it to be honest. Robinson seems to be able to take the Mick out of himself, and I envy Mcburnies confidence.

Wont slag off anyone for the way they talk; I had enough of that shit when I left Sheffield and went ‘darn sarf’... twats!

They had me in stitches, albeit I’m full of Guinness at the moment (hic). Every team, no matter what it does, needs a couple of people like that!

I know the gist of what I want to say, but I can't quite think of how to phrase it in a way that at least someone won't object to.

These past few seasons, our squads have been built on a hardworking, no-nonsense, down to earth, humble squad. Regardless of age, there was a maturity: Sharp, Basham, O'Connell, Fleck, Egan. No big names, no egos.

There's less of a maturity amongst some of the newer arrivals - does that equate to egos, or potentially disruptive influences, of course not - but on our own terms, within the budget we have, this is the first bit of evidence of our squad including personalities and the paraphernalia that the likes of Lingard bring to modern football. It's what I understand and take from Ben Foster's interview about how young footballers are disjointed from Senior pros in a really evident way, perhaps more so than ever before. We've never really had exuberance, and such egos - Henderson was the first last year and these seem to overtake him with ease.

I'm all for personalities within the changing room, look at my Dad. I'm not sure I'm up for anything that would risk the humility that has got us so far in recent years. I know Wilder will have his eye on that.

There were times I laughed at that vid, and there were also times when I thought the 'old guard' might think "what the fuck are these clowns doing here?" (Fleck, Bash, Sharp, O'Connell etc).

Sadly, when I see folk doing the gangsta talk I want to bash em in the head and tell em to grow the fuck up!!

hip hop and r&b....absolute shite. Why the fuck would lads and lasses from Yorkshire feel they should change their accents, vocabulary and mannerisms to become and look such unemployable bell ends? The biggest jokers are the ones who switch it in and off around different company!

Anyway...feels good to get that off my chest.

People like them two are pretty low down the list for reasons this country is a shithole.

weird....nearly all the moronic, chavvy, unemployable criminals I meet seem to talk that sort of shite? All bruv...bro...innit...pointy gun hands and aggressive talking...most of em couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag!!
And they really are one of the reasons the country is in a mess!!

Bring back some discipline, respect and education...send the fuckers into the forces for 2 years at 16, forget frigging Half arsed college courses, make them do their life education in the forces.

who the hell got me started on this....but it really is one of my biggest hates at the moment.

These 2 live in a different world to me ,
a ) I am twice as old as them
b ) they earn more money in a week than I do a year
c ) I am not totally inspired by burnies antics especially DD arrest
d ) I am not totally inspired by Robinson full stop .

Robinson's loud positivity must be the reason he gets on the bench ahead of Freeman.

I found it funny and like the lads. Might say a lot about my maturity though.

Or that you're not a miserable twat.

It's as if language has never changed before. Did we all speak Chaucer's English until a few years ago and I somehow didn't notice?

Uppeth thee Blades, forgedth as they were, in a material of considerable strength beyond the reach of staining influences and rust'sthsth vice like gripeththth

I work with a fair few young people and a lot speak like this which is probably why I don't see it as weird. I take the piss out of the way they speak and they take the piss out of me for saying stuff like "reyt" and "nowt". It's all the same isn't it?

Dunno how you know so many criminals and their fighting ability, do run some sort of underground gang or fight club?

But I agree, what they need is to join the army and be given a real gun, that will teach them saying bruv and doing pointy gun hands is the death of our country.

Yeah, aye, nowt, reyt, nah den, oi, duck, gi' o'er, yorright petal/ flower/love, nobdy, is surely the yoof speak of yesteryear.

My granddad always used to tell me to speak properly when I said anything too Sheffield, but no-one really speaks like he did anymore, the people complaining about Oli and Callum's vocabulary and syntax have just forgotten that they don't speak reyt either, just to a generation or two further back.

The Ben Osborn reading a book bit; therefore being the most intelligent was the best insight I’d them all.

I’m not saying he isn’t, as if I had to blindly guess, I’d suspect he’d be up there (based on how people come across in interviews), but it’s a funny marker of how most footballers perceive the world.

I think the other ‘brainy’ ones would be - Moore, Egan, JOC and Norwood.

Bert left Sheffield at the age of 18 and as someone commented last week, his accent has not changed one bit.

Never realised there was so many miserable people on here 😅

90% of people I know from Leeds have the same accent as McBurnie. Whatever the influence, it’s a generational thing and definitely not forced.

Lighten up and stop being so morbid all your life x

You'd be forgiven for thinking footballers have always spoken the Queen's judging by the replies on this thread.

In a similar vein, but much more dull. Enda asking to be moved from sharing with Robbo made me smile though

His description as The Happiest Guy In The World made me laugh – Robinson looks permanently delighted, never seen not smiling. His strike pairing with Clarke against Fylde couldn’t have given us a bigger contrast in expressions.

They didn't but Bert can't remember Bobby Charlton and Dave Mackay talking like Edward G. Robinson and George Raft.
