Given Ramsdale, Reed and Chapman are away on international duty, I'd go for......

----------------------------Moore

-----------EEL-----------Wright------JOC

Freeman-------------------------------------Lafferty

--------------------Coutts------Fleck

----------------------------Duffy

---------------------Sharp-----Done

subs
Long
Hussey
Basham
Brooks
Scougall
Lavery
Clarke

Tough call between Done, Scougall, Clarke and Lavery for that last spot but for me, the best we've looked was against Vale. We've not played that line up since but I'd like to see us have a little run with it. Great options on that bench as well.

100% agree

be a shame to leave Scougall out after netting us the goals which wither start off the wave or get us that cushion in a game. But can't argue with the team there

- Scougall or Done (I'd go Done all day long but CW is loyal to those who perform)
- Basham or JOC (Cant remove Fleck or Coutts to accommodate Basham in midfield - genuine conundrum this one)

The remainder of the team picks itself.

And what a difference it makes that the team picks itself now, we have excellent options in attack off the bench & basham who can easily slot into either def / mid.

You watch now we'll lose 0-3...

Agree Basham and Scougall are unlucky not to start in my team. They were the hardest 2 to leave out. Chapman has also made a case for himself when he returns.

I think that's pretty uncontroversial. Especially since Scougall might be crocked after hobbling off last Sunday.

Whoever partners Sharp will probably only play an hour as Lavery and Clarke are readier than ever.

Id keep the same team that beat MK Dons but tek wee man off at half time and let done run rings round them in the second half.

When you go to Chez, don't forget to set your watches back a few decades!

Yeah, I'd go with the same. But just can't see Basham being left out though (probably at O'Connell's expense).

Btw, great to see Leon Clarke back. He'll be a huge asset to have coming off the bench.

Scougall's in goalscoring form, Done isn't. He and Duffy can afford to play higher up against Chesterfield than MK Dons as they're not as good in midfield, so the pressing from the front should be better than it was in that game. We're also more likely to dominate the ball with Scougall and Duffy supporting Sharp.

Basham or O'Connell is the hardest choice. O'Connell's a better defender and the defence is better balanced with him there, but Basham gives us flexibility throughout the game, and I think that's the reason Wilder kept him in the team. Then there's the threat of Evans and Ariyibi (RW) to consider. I'd only consider playing Basham at LCB, I don't want to see Wright there. Being more mobile than JOC, he could be a better option, but if Wilder won't play him LCB I suppose it has to be O'Connell.

Matty Done has to be in there. The team that blitzed Port Vale will do nicely for me. Moore: EEL, Basham, Wright: Freeman, Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, Lafferty: Sharp, Done.

Subs: Long, O'Connell, Scougall, Clarke, Brooks, Hussey, Brown. We'll not need all of them, obviously.

Men to watch out for: Evans obviously, Evatt & Anderson from corners, Ariyibi on the right wing, and O'Shea, a rare survivor from the very good side Chesterfield had 2 seasons ago.

I think with Basham coming off last night and O'Connell playing a full 90 minutes then Basham will start on Sunday.

There is also a 23s game tomorrow where i expect Lavery, Clarke, Done and Hussey all to be involved.

Agree with OP, but think he'll go with Scoogs to start...

Depends a bit on how ready Clarke is. Tempted to give him as much time as possible on the basis a Chessie mate tells me they're woeful when defending set pieces. I'm happy with Done though as the system with him in has been so successful on the pitch so far.

Isn't it nice to have an issue where we are struggling to get players into the team because they're all doing well :)
It is. It's also good that there isn't anyone in the team that a reasonable person wants to drop. There are a few who'd replace one or two with our alternatives, which is fair enough, it's a valid opinion, but there's no Woolford or Hammond etc who almost everyone wants to see the back of.

EEL and O'Connell will cause them enough problems.

Players getting in on merit is great with players ready to come in and perform, knowing if they do well they keep their spot.

True, but if they're weak in the air and at marking that's a plus for Clarke. Also told they're playing it long a lot, which means we can afford to press less and that's what Done's best for. I would stick with Done on the basis that we've been so good with him in the side and Clarke ought to earn his way back in like the rest. Just saying he's a tempting option.

If they're weak at set pieces that should cement O'Connell's place in the team. It would be a bit of a shame if we only had EEL who offers a real threat.

Every next game the same posters come on and say the same thing, drop Basham. When is the penny going to drop, CW will not drop him because like me he knows he's essential to his team and what it's geared up to do. I just don't get this anti Basham crusade, he's been part of a fantastic run of form and fully deserves his place.

No Hussey on Wed makes me think Lafferty will miss out after taking a whack last Sunday.

Hope I am putting 2 + 2 together to make 5, cos Lafferty has been excellent since coming in.

I would rather bring Basham into the back 3 and push O'Connell to left wing back than play Hussey, in fact I would rather play anyone than Hussey.

Yes - and isn't it fun when it's like this? It's been a while.

As Marlo Stanfield used to say in "the Wire", these are "good problems". Done and Sharp worked well together. Scougall came in when Done got injured and did really well. Clarke is fit, looked sharp on the highlights, and has a great record. All of them are good choices.
