Didn't go last night but have read comments regarding the players brought in, tough call(s) fir Wilder/ Knill then, if fit does Donaldson start, CCV sounds like like he had a good game but does he replace mister consistent Bash if he's fit, people saying what a good game Baldock had so again does he drop another consisent player in Freeman, I suppose the easiest decision is probably Stevens for Lafferty, nice problems to have, Wilder likes to stick with his team selection when winning but of course if a player comes in and does well is the shirt then his to lose, interesting to know what folk think, especially if you went last night. I dont think he will push Donaldson with the type of injury he has and I thinkhe will go back to the tried and trusted.

From last night and previous performances I'd go with:

Blackman
Baldock
CCV
Wright
JOC
Stevens
Coutts
Fleck
Duffy
Sharp
Donaldson (Brooks if he's not fit)

Subs:
Eastwood
Basham
Freeman
Lundstram
Brooks (if Donaldson is fit)
Clarke
Evans

Who knows.....the team no longer picks itself. So many good options and strength in depth. What a difference 12 months makes.
Only players certain to start if fit...,Coutts, Fleck, Blackman.

It's a very tough call – I think Basham has been fine this season, despite criticism from some. But as debuts go, CCV couldn't have really done any more to stake a claim to remain in the side. It would probably be a bit harsh to leave Basham out based on his performances, but I'd just bring Donaldson, Stevens and Freeman back in out of the 4 that missed out.

Wilder can't be dropping Basham or the others who sat out last night because they've all done well recently and were only being rested. It would be extremely harsh and would be going against his selection policy.

Blackman

Basham Wright O'Connell

Freeman Coutts Fleck Stevens

Duffy

Donaldson Sharp

Subs: Moore, CCV, Baldock, Lundstram, Brooks, Clarke, Evans

Absolutely no need to risk Donaldson at present. We have won 3 of the past 4 games without him, which shows that we have enough firepower to cope without The Don.

Yes, it would be great to have him back in the team a.s.a.p, but there is no point risking putting his recovery back weeks, or even months by bringing him back too soon. The consequences of a long-term injury could be massive for us, maybe even cost us promotion?

I say let's bring back a fully fit, raring-to-go Donaldson for the Wendy away game. If he's firing on all cylinders he could rip holes in the pigs defence. Maybe bring him on for the last 10 minutes against Norwich, to ease him back before the trip to the theatre of rust.

If we don't know what the 11 will be, if we can come up with multiple variations of a starting 11 then the opposition will be guessing as well and will need to prepare for lots of different possibilities. It's all positive and already shows the difference from last season when the team more or less picked itself.

CW said demands on our wide players in our 3-5-2 is so heavy they won't play 3 games in a week, also reason why Baldock and Stevens were our first targets as he wanted 4 strong players in these positions. Understandably as they act as fullbacks and wingers running nonstop 90 minutes.

Its a credit to Wilder plus Knilly and Mitchell that we have good players we can switch around without spending silly money.
Certainly the team spirit is the best we have seen for years.
The 3-5-2, flexible formation is excellent, the last time we played this system on a regular basis is many years ago when Spackman was manager and we were going great guns until the powers that be sold his two strikers without his agreement so Spackman left and we declined.
Strikers were if my memory serves me were Jan Age Fortoft and Brian Deane.
Cannot recall who the powers that be were but well before McCabe's tenure.

All credit to the players and current management team.
We must have the best supporters in the land as they never stopped singing last night at Bolton.

Never thought we would have taken so well to this division.

I bet not one single person gets the team for Saturday EXACTLY right.

What a great squad the management team have built.

Have we seen last night, our first move to SQUAD ROTATION?

Freeman makesnthe line up for me even though I didn't go last night and haven't seen much of Baldock. It's bloody good to have competition though!

Wright
JOC
Stevens

Fleck
Duffy
The Don
Sharp

Moore
CCV
Baldock
Lundstram

Different scenario on Saturday.

Assuming he wasn't injured I think Basham will have been rested in anticipation of an arial bombardment from Bolton.

Norwich are not likely to play the same way and Bash could well be back in the team because of his qualities in getting forwards and using the ball well.

We will have to wait and see.

Correct players and it was Mike McDonald in charge at the time.

Bash's experience and good form of late will get him the nod. Great debut from the young lad so Bash will need to keep performing. Competition for places can only benefit us . The management team have worked wonders to get us where we are now as opposed to 18 months ago. I was beginning to think we would never get back. Whoever Chris and Alan pick to play we know the lads wont let us down.

In "happier times". The other man is that xxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx Charles Green.

Blackman -Bash-CCV-O'Connel -Stevens-Fleck-Coutts-Duffy-Freeman-Sharp-Clarke
CCV for Wright due to more pace.
Norwich a better version of Brentford playwise but not scoring much.Good team on the ball

Bash and Freeman will be back I reckon.

Reading between the lines I don't think Donaldson will be risked, at least not from the start, so I expect Clarke to start alongside Sharp.
