Team for Rochdale

Now, I confess that at the moment due to work commitments all I have seen is Blades Player, but from what I have read should not Mc Nulty start for Billy?

I'd give Sharp and Clarke another chance. Hopefully Chapman will play, which will help them.

If Billy's not at it though get McNulty on with plenty of time to go.

Beyond tomorrow, given the striking options we look like having, especially if Lavery signs, we have to put the team first when it comes to selection and not factor in anything else - sentiment, player status, wages, nothing. It's not the manager's responsibility to ensure Billy gets 20+ goals for example. This is easier said than done but I hope Wilder will be strong enough to always put the team first. If we rotate the strikers at the right times it could get us a lot more points. Maybe no one would get 20 but the goals would be shared out and ultimately the goals for column could be higher come the end of the season.

If Billy isn't at it tomorrow, give him and Clarke 90 mins and then another 90 mins and then another. Sharp and Clarke will bag a tonne of goals this season and i'd only ever take the Captain off if he's injured or if you want to try another system which he doesn't fit into. Taking a 20+ goalscorer off in the 3rd game of the season is, to me, giving sentiment to a lesser player in McNulty. McNulty should be patient. Billy won't play 46 league games plus cup games, so he'll get his chances.

Drop Long for an untried teenager in League 1 football when he has done nothing wrong so far this season (and not that much wrong last season)?

Agree, people over react regards Long. He's not the best but he's far from the worse too.

Until we get a top goalie which every club wanting promotion needs then we stay with Long. Also I think Wilder will at least give him a few games to show his stuff before he's dropped.

Also agree that I doubt our new boy Chapman will start. I expect him to be brought on after 60 to 70 minutes.

The interesting thing is Sharp is under a bit of pressure with McNulty pushing for a place.

I've seen him live for us several times but the highlights remind you of the created chances.

He'll be a big hit imo

I also think he'll do well, and yes there has been plenty of great crosses already. He's run up and down the pitch a lot in the first couple of games and probably tired, causing a couple of mishit crosses which have stuck in (frustrated) fans' minds.

The quality and technique is certainly there with Hussey's deliveries. They've just been a bit inconsistent so far. He does get up the pitch a lot, is more athletic than our previous left backs and is even capable of making a yard to get a cross in. I think he'll be an asset going forward, not so sure about his defending.

I'd go:-

Long
Brayford-Wilson-O'Connell-Hussey
Duffy-Whiteman-Fleck-Chapman
Clarke-Done/McNulty

I fear with a Clarke-Sharp partnership we're going to very rarely turn the oppo defence around, teams are going to play a high line confident we'll not have the pace to get around the back. Put Done in and defences will have to drop off to not allow as much space between defence and goalkeeper, which will play into Clarke's hands playing further up the pitch with his aerial ability and hold up play.

I think a new experienced keeper would have a greater (positive) impact than people think.

I think confidence of having a steadying presence behind them would take the shackles off the back 4, they could concentrate on what's in front of them instead of worrying what's behind them.

Reckon it'll be same team as last couple of games but it'll also be a last chance for a few if they don't step up. Those who came off the bench midweek didn't do themselves any harm imo.

I've also seen him first hand, especially at Bolton when if he didn't cross it behind the goal line he way over hit it or didn't clear the first man.

On the positive side though he does get into good positions to make the cross and I'm sure he will get it right, but so far that's not been the case.
Probably too much adrenaline on his debut for a " massive " club couple of decent results and he'll settle down. Which goes for the team as a whole me thinks

Keep the same side from other week and drop Long for Ramsdale.

I'd go as far as to say he makes me nervous at times on match day. As Ramon recently said on Bladesmad, I find myself applauding him for fairly routine saves on a match day, somewhat thinking "phew, thank god he didn't balls that one up". Of course - I'd never openly slate him on match day, that much does no good - but we do need a replacement IMO.

I don't mean or like to say "I told you so", but...

I would go back to how he wanted to play in the first place:

.............GK
Brayford Wilson O'Connell Hussey
................Whiteman Fleck
.......Duffy........Done.........Chapman
........................Sharp
