Team for Oxford

I don't think we can rotate for this one. After dropping points on Saturday, we have to win this. It's unlikely we get 4 points from the two after, so we have to go all out.

If Campbell is out injured then I'd half expect Wilder to play Rak-Sakyi up top as a lone striker instead of One.
From what I’ve seen of One in the 23s I’m confident he could do the business on Tuesday

Since the recent international break our thin squad has been badly hit and we now face the absence of some key players :

Anel , Souza , Blaster , Moore , Brewster , Campbell

Time for Robbo , TDavies , Peck , One & Brooks to be heroes.

We might just stay in touch with the leaders if there are no more injuries & bans

Who is the main central midfielder fot the u21’s, if were depleted wouldnt he be likely to be put into the squad, hopefully oxford arnt much better than wrexham and the young uns did well that day so it may be a way through a sticky period injury wise

Will need a fair amount of rotation due to the amount of games but our squad isn’t big enough for how much I’d ideally do. The tea is go for is-

Cooper
Seriki Souttar Robinson McCallum
Souza Peck
Rak-Sakyi Hamer Brooks
Campbell

Blacker I think, if we do have a few out with injuries after Saturday I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of our U21's on bench, Marsh and Hampson have been in the squad in the cup games.

Who knows, we might see Blacker (only seen him in highlights for U21's) for a cameo but we've still got Peck, Davies and Shackleton who should be able to play, not sure about Souza fitness.

Wilder’s starting line up for Oxford should surprise everyone hopefully. So many key players need a rest. Injuries and suspensions won’t go away.
Anel must feel like shit right now. I really like him, but he let the team down badly, at exactly the wrong time.
We can afford to risk points against Oxford, but not against Sunderland.

O’Hare is arguably our fittest player so I doubt very much that he will be rested any time soon with the number of injuries we have at the moment.

i've got a feeling it will look like this.

Cooper
Gilchrist Souttar Robinson Mcallum
Peck Shackleton
Rak Sakyi - O'Hare - Hamer
Campbell

Disclaimer - This isn't my chosen line up - it's predicted based on current scenario.

I reckon Vini will be ok. Think there was an element of running the clock down with him going down towards the end. He’s done similar previously.

If given Seriki a start against Oxford and try and get some minutes in Davies

Anyone suggesting dropping Peck for that bombscare Shackleton should have their ST revoked
First off, way too strong comment.
Either way, can Peck play, Saturday, Tues, Friday?

We have a weakened team, and a very tight schedule this week. It's not just about picking the best team. It's about managing it, for fitness and injury.

I'd rather see a weakened team out against Oxford, and a refreshed team against stronger Sunderland.

I’d much rather have Hamer alongside Peck to be honest and then stick McCallum or Burrows on the left.

Just feel Hamer can grab hold of the game a little more.

Don't be surprised if we dont see Vini until after Plymouth - the way his leg stiffened up those last 15 minutes suggests a groin strain at least

I was watching him closely. I wouldn’t be surprised either way but he’s hobbled around in the final stages of games before and then appeared in the next one. He might be genuinely hurt or just his little bit of gamesmanship slowing things down a bit.

He’s posted on Instagram a picture of an ab workout captioned Tuesday since the weekend.

I thought it was his meat and two veg that had come to harm.

All depends on the injury situation which has too many mysteries to bother discussing.
That said ,
I reckon Oxford at home is the ideal game to get 30-45 minutes into the likes of TDavies , Seriki , McCallum , Brooks , Oneh , maybe even Shackleton.
Obviously not all at once and only if we are fairly comfortable.
Some of the above haven't played much or at all and it would be a big step to have to come on v Mackems or WBA without match practice.
There is a lot for CW to think about this week and no wonder he looked tired at the presser.

Rest a few for the first hour. Try to freshen up the 1st 11 for the Sunderland game.

Subs to use from 60mins onwards:

Gilchist

We've a few injury worries, but I've got a feeling that this game will be the first for us to score 3+

There's no certs in football, but we must be looking to dominate and win this comfortably.
So we have failed to score 3 in any game this season, they have only lost by more than 1 goal away from home once in their recent games and that's against one of the teams joint top, they have only conceded 3 once, we have a fair few injuries including possibly 2 of our most influential players and potentially 3 strikers/forwards injured and yet you have a feeling we will get 3+, im not saying we wont but I'd like to see your logic

Plenty out of the u21 squad as we look to add them to the 1st team

Guessing the missing ones are Marsh, Oné, Sasnauskas and Faxon. Any others that I might have missed?

I'd start Tom Davies, see how long he lasts, not sure he's really suited to being a sub. Would probably be a good game to use Seriki and Brooks up the right too, but Brooks seems totally out of favour with Wilder for some reason.

I'd take a spozzy 1-0 win, with the only goal coming from a rebound off the back off a clenched fist of a bloke who'd just delivered a uppercut to the kidneys of a very small disabled child on a stretcher, who found himself on a stretcher after being fisted out of his wheelchair via said punch.
Saturday proved it's all about gamesmanship. So I'll take a win with such vile tactics used.
Bastard.
