Bad. Really bad. In just about every area bar left back and in net.

We have 3 days to resolve that… mid table looms I’m afraid.
We need to add at least five players. It's looking likely at least two, possibly upto five players could leave us before the window shuts which means we actually need to sign 7-10 new players in the next couple of days. Not looking likely.

Our midfield starting 11 is very strong and we have a brilliant keeper.

It is our defence and strike force that is the problem.

Just what we need another, club bashing thread. We can see the problem. Give it another 48hrs and then discuss it. 🙄
Wonder why there’s so many…

You reckon we’ll get what’s required in 48 hours?

We only need to add 5 players in this window if you have a desire to be promoted this season.
What we have is ok for this window: add a couple more in January and then a few more next summer. By then a couple or more of the youngsters will be ready to help us get promoted with a squad capable of being competitive in the PL

Considering the mess we were in we're actually stronger than I thought we would be at this point.

We certainly are, my only concern is this final week of the window seems to be a little panicky and scattergun approach straying from the plan.

But I guess the same could be said of most Championship clubs in the final week of window.

With no sales one striker and one left winger and we are good to go imo. Obviously we WANT more but that should put us in good shape untill January.

For me, depth is OK apart from up front. Quality is a different matter. I reckon we'll be looking at one in, one out apart from a new striker.

GK - We've got three seniors. Move on Grbic if possible and use Faxon as the third if needed.

Def - We've got 10 (9 seniors plus Seriki if we loan out the other youngsters or keep them in the U21s). That's fine, but we should replace anyone we sell.

Midfield/wing - We've got 10 (7 seniors plus Blaster, Brooks and Peck - again, loans or U21s for the rest). We should replace Coulibaly and Slimane if possible and accept any minutes we get from Davies as a miracle.

Striker - We've got 3 - 5 (3 seniors and Marsh / One will depend on incomings). Campbell may be more of a winger and Marsh is maybe more a 10. I like the look of One and would keep him with the U21s in case we need a more direct striker if anything happens to Brewster/Moore. I think we need one quality addition here though.

Am I correct in thinking, we can use our two remaining loan slots, after transfer window shuts, as premier clubs submit their squad of 25????

I like the idea of the youngsters being in the squad, learning the style and playing there part. If we somehow expect to be promoted this season we will just be in for another embarrassing season next year. We should build across the season and aim to win the league next year.

This needs to be framed by Foxy and be compulsory reading before anyone posts.

Before the window opened a top half finish with an outsoutside chance of playoffs was what was generally expected.

All of a sudden a few signings of decent quality has people now expecting playoffs minimum with a chance of autos.

We have nowhere near the overall depth nor ability in every position to be a serious promotion contender right now.

We need 4 at least to give us a chance and gets us in the playoffs.

Depending how good they are determines if we can challenge for top 2.

But when we play the youngsters the fans moan at the manager and the players if we lose. So tough gig.

I think there's a difference between us using cup games to give them game time and bringing them on in 1s and 2s into a strong match day squad.

Peck for example had a rough night on Tuesday, but part of that would be having coulibaly next time time. Stick souza along side and he can focus on his own game a bit more.

No guarantee of course

The problem with this is that there is an underlying notion that everyone else is just going to wait for you to catch up.

They are also going to look to evolve their squads. So even if we progress ours, what’s to say others don’t do the same at the same rate?

A club our size needs to be having a go at getting out of this division every time we are in it.

If we get thrashed next year, so be it. It’s part of the process. Being away for longer will not make us more competitive.

Burnley are in a mess at the moment by the looks of it. Leeds have lost some prime talent.

Luton have lost players and not really replaced them. Their original promotion, despite them putting up a good show last year, was a bit of an anomaly; they were miles behind us when it came to winning games to go up.

If we hold our nerve these next few days, we can emerge and win the league and if not that, then finish top two.

Bring them on!

I'm perfectly OK with this. Of the last seven seasons I've enjoyed all four in the championship and the first in the PL, whereas the other two in the PL have been horrible. Of course, I want us to win the division we're in every year, but you can't even have that dream in the PL. So if we don't get promoted I'm not going to cry myself to bed so long as we've had a good crack at it and been entertaining. The PL isn't the holy land as far as I'm concerned.

If we don't get promoted this season we'll have to sell more players next summer. If we're lucky one (at a push two) academy players MAY be ready to step up next season
