Task gets harder

I've accepted we're down and also accept that establishing ourselves in our first prem season in years was a tough ask. Our strategy would have included a relegation in the first 3 seasons back up hence no overcommitment on silly wages. Obviously this is based on the assumption we'll get promoted back at our first or worst case, second attempt. This is a shrewed strategy and better than villas who spunked a load of cash and were very fortunate to stay up last season.

While I don't think we're the worst team in the league at the moment, other teams also in the shit have individual players that are capable of moments that will win them games. We don't, so we're down.

My personal targets for the rest of this season now is to not finish bottom, and to get more points than Norwich did last season.

And we're still in the cup - need to finish with a bit of form.

Will this Blade be along to tell us to be more positive if any of us have the cheek to say we think we have fucked it this season...?

We've improved since the Bristol Rovers game but even so, we absolutely deserve to go down after our start. The Old Trafford result gave us a boost but that was soon extinquished after the Chelsea fixture. Still EFL on Quest is far superior to MOTD, and Colin loves us.

After todays results if we don't get something tomorrow night and then win at Fulham it's time for Roy.

That brings back a memory .

As a youngish bloke I often had a game of crib with an old regular at my local . If it was near the end of the game and he picked up a good hand , he would look down at his cards , slowly raise his head , look me in the eye and say - “ It’s Roy Orbison for thee , lad .”

PS - What a singer and what a song .👍

Bottom 3 already down... Could be the earliest that relegation has been decided in Premier league history this year
Unfortunately I agree with you. I hope we can stay up, but it really needs a fantastic run of results to the end of the season.

I'll bet Sky are gutted. Nothing doing down the bottom, and Man City are romping the title. They're going to have to seriously sell some mid table games 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Totally agree, In situations like this, our “well drilled” team ethic has distinct disadvantages against poor teams who have certain game changing individuals in their ranks. Like any well oiled machine, if a part breaks down, the whole kit and caboodle is fucked.

What I can't understand about CWs recruitment this season was the lack of bringing in another midfielder or two.

I was also really surprised that he didn't try to bring in a different type of player up top such as an out and out winger so that we could mix it up or change our attacking approach if it was obvious that Plan A wasn't working. We seem to have one plan (overlapping centre halves with attacking wing backs) and if that isn't happening then we have nothing except Basham off for Sharp to change it.

I understood it the first season as you can't cover everything in one PL pre season, but thought we would give ourselves a chance to change things around this pre season especially after we lost the last three games at the end of last season.

It's all easy with hindsight I agree, but we didn't get the recruitment right in the summer. For next season an out and out winger wouldn't go amiss.

Unfortunately I think unless we go on a 10 game winning run, anything less than 6 points from the next 2 games, cuts us way too far adrift (if we aren’t already)

i agree with what your saying especially on the midfield situation but although personally would like to see a change of system i very much doubt chris will change it and very much doubt any wingers will come in although for me burke is a winger and not a striker

A fair number of our players should devote the rest of this season to the collecting as many Premier shirts, selfie’s and autographs as the can......They won’t be coming back.

I still think we will catch WBA and Fulham, the problem is I ONLY think we will catch WBA and Fulham.

strange thing is if we can just win 3 games , in the FA cup it will go down as the most successful season ever for any blade alive today

Bravery isn’t the problem, it’s keeping it out and one end and putting it in at the other that we have issues with.

You saying we can do it and everyone in their right mind saying we won’t will still make sod all difference to the players and management. It’s better to admit that barring a miracle we’re down and have been for a while.
hardly a miracle
man city have won 16 on the trot
we only have to be half that good

Just to cheer people up we are on the receiving end of 2 of the 'great escapes' here and none of these so called 'great escapes' were as far off safety as we are at this point in the season. Leicester were 3 points from safety after 23 games.

Just in case you think we don't need a miracle.

As Jack Sparrow would say, it's not impossible, its improbable.

Just as we have realised that actually, it might not be a bad idea to pick some points up, our rivals have had the same idea

The bit that really gets up my nose, is that there are some on here who will be feeling all smug and I told you so if/ when the time comes we are down .........

And even worse there isn't a two finger Smiley for if we stay up........
